NEW YORK (AP) -- They wash their hands of neo-Nazis and wag their fingers at leftists. They denounce a press corps they see as biased and controversies they view as manufactured. But in the frenzied blame game over the deadly violence at a rally of white supremacists, Donald Trump's loyal base is happy to absolve the president himself.
Even as Trump's zig-zag response to the weekend bloodshed in Charlottesville, Virginia, has brought criticism from some Republican lawmakers, many men and women who helped put him in office remain unmoved by the latest uproar.
"He has done nothing to turn me away from him," said Patricia Aleeyah Robinson, of Toledo, Ohio.
Robinson is black and her support of Trump has put her at odds with many in her life, costing her friendships and straining family relationships.....

If you want to truly shake up Washington, take on the Press head on, while simultaneously forcing tyrants around the world to get in line, this is what it looks like. Either you don't have the stomach for it, or don't really want to see it happen. Based on your DC ties, I'm betting on the latter.
Congress is suppose to ‘serve’ US, and they each take an oath to support and defend our Constitution. I am hard pressed to find any of them that fulfill their oath of office. They are treated like royalty and they treat US like peasants. NOT a one of them have yet to come out against the violence of the left.
Even saint Ted Cruz, of the holy grail of Harvard, the lawyers business place of worship, supposed Christian, blamed Trump for the Chicago violence. And it was saint Cruz that opened his big pie hole about the Charlottesville violence, never once naming the leftist thugs.
‘We the people’, are sick of the double standards, exhibited by the very people, who promise things to get elected and race back to their lairs and do the opposite.
It’s easy to attack me. I’m used to it, but ask yourself this question, (that I hate to ask:) If the tactics/statements continue as they did this week, where will his public support be in a month, three months?
Ask yourself this question as well, If you were to question 100 Americans tonight, and ask them one thing about Mr. Trump, would they mention Korea, or the statements about Charlottesville?
re: Gen Kelly: Ask yourself this question. Had you been a senior military or business leader and were asked to take the position of COS for a Fortune 20 company, and an absolute condition of your taking the job was that the controversial president of the company not make any more tweets or un-thought out public statements, and by taking the job, your reputation was irrevocably tied to that corporate president, and withing 2 weeks, he was back at his tweets and uncontrolled statements again, would you resign?
I learned in Law that even when we did a great job, and had a great case, nothing could protect us from certain clients.
Please understand, I want our President and his policies to succeed. I want that desperately. Unfortunately, our Ship of State is headed for the rocks, and our Captain needs to alter the way he is “communicating” with the “crew”... or we will hit the rocks.
Yep we need a purge of the impostors and sell outs.
You are wrong. I totally agree he should take on the press, but DON’T HAND THEM AMMUNITION AS HE DOES REPEATEDLY!
(See my comment about the 24x36 AntiFa poster)
It’s an interesting observation. What works in business does not necessarily translate to politics. You can do many things in business to win. Those same things don’t win in politics. Why?
Generally, in business you are dealing one on one. You want a contract with me and I want a contract with you. There is back and forth, sometimes name calling, sometimes stalling, but ultimately we want the same thing. You want the contract and I want the contract and where we ultimately wind up is based on the bluster and thick skins of the negotiators and finally, did we get a deal we can live with.
In politics it’s completely different. While at times you may be dealing one on one it is rare. And both parties do NOT want the same thing. There is significantly more power with a group than with one on one negotiations. Especially if you have a willing enemy, the press, to effectively sabotage any message that you espouse.
Power is also a big issue that is different. I may want you as a contractor because you are the best out there. But let’s face reality...there are others that are almost as good as you. When you are negotiating under that condition you will take more than give.
The leader of the Senate can be as powerful, if not more so, than the President. As long as he has the backing of his party he is of equal stature. If either party then does not have equal goals, i.e., we both want a contract, then there are real problems with getting things done.
Not really addressing your points but what I believe is part of the problem.
More later if I have time.
They frustrate me as well, but right now, the problem is not on The Hill, it’s the TACTICS 1600 is using.
Thank you for your thoughtful reply.
If you were Kelly, would you stay? And if you stayed, what about the next time it happened?
All I am asking for is no next time.... and I don’t know if my prayers will be answered.
Must run. Mrs. Strac is calling.
Be well.
MAGA!
So says the Hill... 'We the people' that elected President Trump have NO problem with him speaking the truth. The Hill are a bunch of spoiled brats, and I will be voting against the incumbents come primary. Let them cry over that, packing up their boxes moving on over to K Street.
The Hill is so out of touch with Americans, they have no clue what is actually going on outside of their Belt.
There's been all kinds of articles and posts about his poll numberss going up recently, but you're not here to read those obviously. My guess is that his firm statement that BOTH sides are to blame in this incident will be recognized as the truth by most Americans, not the endless media narrative that he is a total buffoon and disgrace that you are supporting.
If you were to question 100 Americans tonight, and ask them one thing about Mr. Trump, would they mention Korea, or the statements about Charlottesville?
Neither, they've turned the media noise off, but since you're in the beltway you don't know that. What most Americans see is the border being secured, the stock market going up, and even retail sales going up. While you're glued to the boob tube more in real America are cutting the cord.
re: Gen Kelly..
Bizarre pretzel of a question attempting to support your clearly unsubstantiated and purposefully destructive claims regarding the mindset of the new CoS.
Please understand, I want our President and his policies to succeed.
Sorry, but based on your posting history and constant conflicts with FReepers including again on this thread, you're simply not believable. Most evidence indicates you're simply a long winded disruptor, who thinks they're a lot smarter than they actually come off, since no one is falling for your pleas. Seen much better, many times.
You are so much more patient than I. Salute!
This guy is a DC <-> FL circuit rider to boot.
The supposed "ammunition" you're referring to is only ammunition within the sphere of the media bubble that you're clearly trapped in, if not vacillating. You should re-read the title and article for this thread, Donald Trump's die-hard supporters show no signs of straying, but I guess that's what set you off and had you in here trying to dispute it.
“Same thing has happened in the Vatican. That is how I came to such a dire deduction.”
I agree with you.
Thanks! As usual he tucked tail and ran when someone felt like wasting equal time exposing his BS, but most people don’t have the time to waste so he thinks he’s actually wining discussions. One day he’ll probably realize what a fool he’s been all this time, and took all that punishment while never actually convincing anyone of anything LOL. Have a good night yourself.
Thanks for getting the picture. I’m afraid the devout Catholic faithful and the American traditional patriot are both headed for the underground, and sooner than either imagined when they were young and growing up.
Kick ass, take names.
If you want help, just ask.
Bologney. Trump has exposed all the traitors and the dark wiggling things under the damp bottomed rocks.
What would one expect for one from outside the swamp who speaks truth to the powers that have ruled us. Truth is a toughy. The destroyers are plainly out to kill him politically speaking, with certainty, and he is in danger for speaking truth without restraint and nuance. Many ignorant are out to help them accomplish the deed.
Thank God. The enemy is made naked and the dark forces are loose. The faceless enemy is among us, and it isn’t Trump.
