CNN's Fareed Zakaria previewed his documentary Why Trump Won Monday on Wolf Blitzer's afternoon TV program. Zakaria said Trump supporters are "tribal" and saw the 2016 presidential election as an act of cultural and class rebellion against the "educated" urban professionals.
"We tried to get at that deeper issue, which is really a portrait of America," Zakaria said of his investigation into Trump supporters. "A kind of cultural and class portrait of an America that feels deeply resentful about the direction the country is going in and the people who run the country. People, you know, who are professionals, urban, educated. This is, in a sense, an act of class rebellion. It is an act of cultural rebellion. And Donald Trump is their guy."

ZAKARIA: "...... You can -- you can ask -- we tried to explain why he became their guy, but he is their guy and, you know, my sense has always been, they have latched on to him the way you latch on to a sports team. The fact that the sports team is not doing well does not mean you will give up support. So when people keep watching and saying, well, but Trump is not really a conservative. Ideology doesn't matter. They say, well, he's not accomplishing much. Competence doesn't matter. This is some kind of tribal identity and they're sticking with him."

Keep insulting middle America, most of whom are indeed educated.
That will surely get you the 2018 midterms and the 2020 presidency.
So, please keep doing it, insufferable elitists.

Two graduate degrees here. Trump is my man because of his intelligence, ability, and hostility to progressive thought. I earned my degrees wen it was still possible to become educated at a major University. The current mob of narcissists are indoctrinated, not educated.
People who, you know...he forgot 'suave' and 'debonair.'
There's a world of difference between being schooled and being educated. For all the hours spent in a classroom, I see little evidence of education in Zakaria's 'tribe.'
The elitist unmitigated contempt creeps like Fareed exhibit towards anyone who DARES disagree w/ them.......
........frankly, its too despicable for comment by decent people.......
Listen to the demented genital-sniffers over at Planned Parenthood ..... same old, same old.
And when candidate Hillary called us “deplorable,” loser Hillary took her cues from this crowd of liberal misfits and malcontents.
True, Fareed, think French Revolution and American Revolution as your source material.
Reminds me of George Will: “An act of rebellion against the adults in the Republican party.”
Yep us’ens deplorables elected Trump......we’uns jus ain’t as smart as you’uns....
“Zakaria attended the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University in 1986.”
A BA? Alrighty then you super duper genius.
Bleh
I think my Physics and Engineering degrees easily trump Fareed's "PhD" in "Government".
And "NO", I'm not particularly impressed by the words "Yale" and "Harvard". Quite the contrary, in fact ...
Fareed is a forever idiot in the Intellectual Yet Idiot class that tells us where to live, what to drive, how to think, what to eat and who to vote for.
Our Governments, Universities/Colleges and many businesses/corporations are controlled and operated by the Intellectual Yet Idiots, who have been controlling our lives for decades. These Intellectual Yet Idiots control our media and most of DC and many states down to the county/city level.
Nassim Taleb Exposes The Worlds Intellectual-Yet-Idiot Class!
What we have been seeing worldwide, from India to the UK to the US, is the rebellion against the inner circle of no-skin-in-the-game policymaking clerks and journalists-insiders, that class of paternalistic semi-intellectual experts with some Ivy league, Oxford-Cambridge, or similar label-driven education who are telling the rest of us 1) what to do, 2) what to eat, 3) how to speak, 4) how to think and 5) who to vote for.
But the problem is the one-eyed following the blind: these self-described members of the intelligenzia cant find a coconut in Coconut Island, meaning they arent intelligent enough to define intelligence and fall into circularities??, but their main skills is ability to pass exams written by people like them.
With psychology papers replicating less than 40%, dietary advice reversing after 30 years of fatphobia, macroeconomic analysis working worse than astrology, the appointment of Bernanke who was less than clueless of the risks, and pharmaceutical trials replicating at best only 1/3th of the time, people are perfectly entitled to rely on their own ancestral instinct and listen to their grandmothers (or Montaigne and such filtered classical knowledge) with a better track record than these policymaking goons.

Indeed one can see that these academico-bureaucrats wanting to run our lives arent even rigorous, whether in medical statistics or policymaking. They cant tell science from scientism??in fact in their eyes scientism looks more scientific than real science. (For instance it is trivial to show the following: much of what the Cass-Sunstein-Richard Thaler types??those who want to nudge us into some behavior??much of what they call rational or irrational comes from their misunderstanding of probability theory and cosmetic use of first-order models.)

Two post-grad degrees here, too.
And you’re not wrong about the narcissism.
No, they do not, and I am glad. Maintaining the same narrative that has lost them thousands of seats is beneficial for us.
Lets be clear about one thing:
People who get a degree from a college or university are NOT smarter than those who didn’t, or say, only have a high school diploma.
IQ is a separate measurement that applies to the person’s overall intelligence; not where or how much schooling they received.
Also, there is huge difference, for example, between those who a degree in engineering or a hard science, and those who get a degree in mass communication, political “science”, cultural studies, Lesbian poetry, etc., etc.
There are also adults out there who might have learned things, over many years, on their own and not through a college. How do you rate such people?
To say they are “dumber” than the typical college graduate (LOL—”Do you want fries with that?”) is in itself a stupid assumption to make. Otherwise one of our smartest presidents, Abe Lincoln, was a dumbass for never attending a school!
Kind of like Fredo Corleone, no?
the infowarrior
Funny how when the “uneducated” voted Democrat they were the “forgotten man”.

Thanks....
Plaigirist...means he’s got a “long shady history.”
