Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Democrats meddled with former Sen. Joe Lieberman's chances of becoming FBI Director in the wake of President Donald Trump's firing of James Comey.
McCain said that the Democrats' opposition to Lieberman stopped him from being selected for the post after the Trump Administration signaled that he was on the shortlist.
"My Democratic colleagues clearly did [kill Lieberman's chances]," McCain told reporters Wednesday, according to CNN. "This is their nominee for vice president of the United States. If anything would make you cynical about this town, that's it."
Lieberman was indeed the Democratic vice presidential nominee alongside Al Gore in 2000, but later became an independent in 2006 and eventually endorsed McCain, a close friend, in 2008 which upset Democrats.....

Democrats were fearing being embarrassed by “one of their own”.
If Lieberman had become FBI Director, he would have been the one to find the Trump/Russia collusion case to have been nothing more than a conspiracy by democrats to depose a sitting president, and so,...
There is no way that they wanted to take a chance that Lieberman would be the one to stand in front of TV and radio microphones, and let the whole world know that “persons of influence in government” were the ones that concocted the whole collusion conspiracy, where everyone with even just a few brain cells inside their heads would be able to conclude that it was Obama and his administration and party leaders who did the dirty deed.
So, nope! Not a chance that democrats were going to take the chance of being embarrassed by one of their own. If someone other than “one of their own” were to declare that it was a conspiracy, democrats would find a way to claim that the FBI director was not to be trusted, since he/she was handpicked by the president. IOW, they want to be able to keep the issue alive for the next 4-8 years, and perhaps forever. With Lieberman, they’d be stopped dead on the tracks.
If McCain is correct, the DemonRat party finally did something good for this country.
Joe would have been a terrible choice anyway.
I know McCain is disappointed, but I’m not.
That ticket would have lost by more than McCain/Palin.
At least it would have been more honest, two pro-amnesty squishes.
Lots of people are thinking that.
I couldn’t vote for the author of the previous TWO amnesty attempts, so I voted for Bob Barr.
At least he was clearly eligible.
Juan would have been a plane wreck.
Maybe. However, Pawlenty is quick on his feet. He doesn’t have baggage. However, Sarah is probably finished in politics.
The squishy pro-amnesty types are finished.
Comey should have been fired day one, but for whatever reason, it did not happen. Even though, the dems and press showed fake outrage over the firing, Trump handling of it left much to be desired, so now Trump is forced to play nice with the dems. That is where we are with this.
Gee, John, you dumbass. And what did you learn from this?
McShamey is a traitorous coward
Maybe McCain is just being Machiavellian ... almost everything he says and does ticks off conservative AND President Trump. So maybe McCain’s comments would be a boost to Lieberman’s chances. (I hope not ... Lieberman is still very much the liberal and, frankly, at 75 he’s too old for that job.)
Wait, I thought McCain only criticized Republicans. Is he now confused?
John McCain alone makes me cynical of that Town. I say this as someone he has helped, considerably. So I say it with regret, not glee.
LOL Even a broken clock is right twice a day...
Senator McCain, I appreciate your service to our country, I voted for you the second time I was able to cast a vote in in a major election in 1986 when I was 21 years old. I am now 52 and have NOT voted for you for the past 12 years. At this point, you have now made me regret ever voting for you... 4 years ago when running, you promised it was your last time, yet there you still sit, blocking progress to reform our government you have helped to destroy from within for 31 years now by turning a once thriving republic into a mob rule democracy that is ready to implode from the weight. Please resign and go enjoy what time you have left and let us get on with reforming our government.
Yes!
Liarman was a such a bizarre possibility for this job.
I see they’ve still never forgave him for endorsing McCain over Obama.
>>>they also killed #SethRich<<<
Yeah, but they let Lieberman live,
Maybe McCain would be interested in the FBI directors spot! He would be out of the senate and subject to firing by the president without cause.
I could say more but will not.
He was a very bad idea if McCain wanted him.
