President Obama says he wasnt all that surprised by Donald Trumps upset victory in the presidential election.
So I think the odds of Donald Trump winning were always around 20 percent, Obama said in a Rolling Stone interview published Tuesday. That [doesn't] seem like a lot, but one out of five is not that unusual. It's not a miracle."
Obama spoke to the magazines publisher, Jann Wenner, the day after Election Day, when the level of shock at the White House seemed very high.
Dozens of stunned staffers, many of whom had tears in their eyes, stood in the Rose Garden to watch the president address the election results.
Obamas assessment of Trumps odds differs from his declaration in February that the real estate mogul will not be president.
But as the race wore on, Obama warned voters Trump had a real shot at winning.
Now, this should not be a close race, but its going to be a close race, he said at a rally in Charlotte, N.C., four days before Election Day.
Even though Obama said he was disappointed by the possibility Trump could roll back his core accomplishments, he told Wenner he wasnt dismayed by the outcome because his administration has shaped a generation to think about being inclusive, being fair, caring about the environment.
And they will have growing influence year by year, which means that America over time will continue to get better.
YOU LIE! You pulled that number out your azzz?
Hilliary NEVER HAD A CHANCE......................
Trump had at least an 80% shot of winning out of the gate, period.
Hillary, to win, had to overcome an anemic economy, the fact she is not likable or has any innate retail political ability, the fact that rarely does a party stay in power for a 3rd term, the fact the democratic party has been collapsing nationally for a decade (yes, when Obama was not on the Ballot, they got their clocks cleaned every time).... Obama built a coalition for Obama, he didn’t do jack to expand the party, in fact he just drove more and more folks away from it. Then add all over her own personal baggage on top of it, she was the underdog from the get go... the fact that the pundits and media and elites never saw this
The electorate clearly was sick of the status quo, let alone a status quo politician that was so much the embodiment of corruption and greed.
She was the underdog from the get go.. Trump had momentum from the minute he announced until election day, Hillary never had an ounce. There were only 2 time sin the election cycle Trump lost momentum... when he stupidly got distracted with the Kahn nonsense... then when the tape came out... Both cost him about 2-3 weeks of momentum, but he recovered and continued to build after them both...
Yes, looking at it from simply she’s establishment and he’s outsider and blind to everything else, you could say he was the underdog, but it was very obvious that being the establishment/insider was a huge negative not a positive this cycle. Had the tape and hyperventilation about it not happened, Trump easily would have gotten IMHO a few Million more votes, and even more states.
No thanks to Pope Francis who is playing for the other team.
that is great!
Mark Levin said he was going to lose.
Trump will almost certainly be a better president than Obama... Obama was a leftist ideologue, he didn’t care about the country or the people, only leftist agenda items.. no matter who or what they hurt. He didn’t even try or care to try to build any sort of consensus or to do the hard work of executive or politics....
He’s a failure on every level, and because he was such a failure, the few things he did ram through will be easily shredded and tossed onto the ash heap of history.
The Constitution created, intentionally, a government that rewards consensus building over ideology... It is intentionally designed to hinder those who want to just ram things through..
If Trump is serious about putting America first, he’ll be the greatest president in the last 20+ years, easily. This will be in spite of the fact, he will be attacked at all times and from all sides.
America First, should be the baseline for any politician, yet, Trump was the only one in a crowd of 20, who remotely said it, let alone seems to actually believe it.
Trying out for his next gig.
Handicapping basketball games on ESPN pregame shows.
Thanks, Obama!
Dogeater is going to seem so bad compared to the Trumpmeister
A reign of error, at that.
Obammy has the ‘worst ever’ sewed up..
I’ve often wondered why he wouldn’t release his college files. Obviously they’d show he was a foreign student, but more than that they’d show the classes he took. Probably things like “colonialism and Marxist theory “ and the like but absolutely NO basic economics classes
What a dog eating toad. The sooner this stain is gone the better
Actually that wasn’t really that bad an interview
Yeah, cause caring about the environment lifts so many out of poverty.
“...100% chance of being the worst President in history...”
Or a 100% chance of being the one and only “black” POTUS in history.
Not the right approach. Coax Obama’s good will but crediting him. For example, “We are going to repeal and replace Obama care and make health care great and affordable. We thank Obama for getting the ball rolling in fixing our health care system which was broken long before he came into office. His ideas didn’t work but they opened the door for us to really look into fixing what was a broken system”. You don’t have to be nasty just because you won. The benefit of this approach. Obama will shut up and not try and destroy from the outside everything that Trump proposes
Great picture..
Note the time,..must be the 3am phone call.
