On the list of surprising visitors calling on president-elect Donald Trump last week, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas ranks right up there with alleged Secretary of State candidate Mitt Romney.
While Romney who called Trump a phony and talked openly about derailing his candidacy during the campaign had an actual job attached to the meeting with his former nemesis on Saturday, Cruzs visit was billed as more of a drop-by.
Its true that after the name-calling between Cruz and Trump (who tagged him Lyin Ted) during the primary campaign; after Trumps derogatory comments about Cruzs wife; after Trumps suggestion that Cruzs father had a role in the JFK assassination; and after Cruz neglected to endorse Trump at the Republican National convention, they did in the end come together. In September, Cruz finally endorsed Trump and campaigned for him....

You’re the liar, it’s in a Donald Trump tweet. Google it. Cruz took it very personally and it took him a while to get over it. Before you accuse others of lying, do your research.
What kind of disconnect allows you to say a weasel & a liar is the best we have? If Cruz is the best we can do we should pull the plug.
Trump has a long list of conservative picks for the SCOTUS. Why would anyone suggest we jump in at the deep end and pick a dishonest conniver.
America has many capable qualified people. We don’t need to keep going back to Cruz, Romney, clintons (who next? Their dog??) , bushes, Obama, 0r any other failed political hacks.
Please provide a quote from Trump saying there will be no investigation of Hillary.
As to Romney, if he’s actually appointed, you have a point. Otherwise, Trump is merely neutering a critic. Again, a level of strategy Trump-smearers cannot fathom.
Ditto when Trump actually funds ant-Global Warming efforts. Or has he already PLEDGED $ for that cause, and I missed it?
Trump never spoke a word against Cruz’ wife. If he had, you could quote his words.
But you cant.
Just how much money is Cruz throwing around now? To suggest that he be put on the Supreme Court so things would go easier in the Senate, because the Mercer’s like him, because he’s a constitutional conservative.
Why would anyone who supports Trump want him to forget about his promise to put one of the names on his list on the Court?
Why would anyone who supports Trump want him to put someone on the Court who has total disregard for the Constitution as written?
Why would anyone who supports Trump want him to have to deal with a person who lied about him and undermined him at every turn, who allied himself with the Bushes and the Clintons, and cost Trump several states?
Why would anyone who supports Trump want someone on the Court who lied to the people of Texas, who lied to the people of the United States, who has no honor and cannot be trusted, on the Supreme Court?
can’t
You are the one who is spouting off. We don’t know that his mother was still a citizen at the time of his birth. She had lived in the UK for many years, had another child with a British citizen and was then living in Canada where reports state she had become a Canadian citizen for medical treatment. The facts about her citizenship records US, UK, Canadian are unknown and Cruz has not been straightforward about his own citizenship records.
To be able to claim US citizenship children born overseas to American parents have to apply & fill out paperwork. If the requirements in force at that time are not met they are not citizens.
on 60 Minutes he said
I dont want to hurt them, I dont want to hurt them, he said. Theyre, theyre good people. I dont want to hurt them. And I will give you a very, very good and definitive answer the next time we do 60 Minutes together.
Cruz does not seem to have a Natural law component to his thought in contrast to the Constitution itself. Further, his Dominionism and its global world government theology might end up a real issue on the Court.
You’re not from around here, are ya? Texans will crawl over broken glass to vote for Cruz before they’d let another Cornyn clone in the Senate.
I understand elections can be quite heated. There were never any mischaracterizations about her work as a finance executive. But there were the typical political conspiracy hits about her. Trump has the same kind of connections and more so, buts that’s ok. I am just tired of the nonsense instead of pulling together and moving forward.
Absolutely. Cruz would be working for very different aims than supporting the Constitution his supporters believe he reveres.
I agree. It’s a natural fit. My only concern is getting past a filibuster but I am beginning to suspect that Trump will bust all filibusters. He’s just to smart and experienced for the senator clowns.
Your quote bolsters my case. Thanks for the assist.

I hate to burst your bubble but Cruz did a very mediocre job in his times arguing before the SCOTUS.
This is the record of all those cases. Cruz lost more than he won.

No need to copy the tweey. If Trump had criticized Heidi Cruz, you could paraphrase it, or cite the gist of the criticism.
