Paul Ryan Plummets to 43 Percent in New Primary Poll

A poll of likely Republican voters shows House Speaker Paul Ryan well below 50 percent in his race to maintain his seat in Wisconsin’s first Congressional district. The poll was conducted by P.M.I., with 424 respondents randomly called from a file of 11,000 likely GOP primary voters. It shows that with one month remaining before Wisconsin’s August 9th vote, Ryan is polling at 43 percent. Ryan’s challenger, Wisconsin businessman Paul Nehlen, is polling at 32 percent.

The Nehlen campaign notes that Ryan’s 43 percent “represents a drop of more than 30 points since the Nehlen campaign began polling likely Republican primary voters earlier in the year.”

“This poll shows voters are considering their options and choosing to opt out of Paul Ryan’s job-killing policies,” Nehlen said.

Ryan is pro-amnesty, pro-TPP and seems to love attacking Trump than he ever did Obama and Hillary. It’s my belief he wants Trump to lose but he offers his faint endorsement of Trump so it isn’t quite so obvious. Need more reasons?

I keep forgetting to limit my responses

It's the Washington disease. It can't be helped. We just have to watch each other and help out where we can. Read too much Washington Post (e.g. "fatally shot more that a dozen times") or listen to too many talking heads or listen to any politician and you get sucked in. I am not sure there is a cure but with proper diagnosis and careful management one can prevent further progression an altogetherthe Joe Biden stage where you are so far gone that you don't even realize that you would be better off shooting yourself.

I have noticed a few GOPe folks come running whenever there is a Nehlen thread.

Hey, why shouldn't they? The pay's good.

The last Speaker of the House to lose his seat was Tom Foley of Washington. He was defeated by George Nethercutt in November 1994 after serving since 1989.

Prior to Foley, we have to go back to 1862 to see a Speaker of the House ‘Retired’.

OMG, is there a pill for that? I think I could already open an unlicensed pharmacy with what I take now.

Great. I plan to contribute to Nehlen. If many of us contribute even a small amount, it will add up.

It's funny, 94' was the year of the Contract with America and the Republican Revolution.

This year we might have the "Y'all suck Revolution, y'all Fired!" and the Contract might be "Make America Great Again".

It is just a gut feeling, but it is feeling good, big changes coming....

Yes, and in 1862 when Speaker Galusha Grow lost his seat, Lincoln’s Repubs lost a bunch of seats - probably because citizens were frustrated their politicians literally could not avoid Civil War.

This year, people are frustrated with their politicians, and we may see history repeat itself 154 years later if the people of Janesville can “Cantorize Their Weasel!”

Yes, Taildragger, it could be the year that corruption had it’s nuggets stolen to put it politely.

I prefer the impolitic hammer to one gonad at a time on a stump of a freshly cut eucalyptus.

I was wrong, I said we could “repeat” history when, in actual fact, if Ryno is Cantorized in the PRIMARY, instead of the general, it would be precedent-setting history.

I hate precedents. In fact we have one in the White House that we can’t seem to get rid of and another begging to get in.

But Foley didn’t lose in the primary. I wonder if that has never happened.

A lot of history has been made as the balance of awareness and concern for country is beginning to shift. Maybe the next notable event will be the elimination of the third ranking member of government in his own state’s primary.
