Trump to Nevada delegates: I'll pay your travel, hotel costs
The Washington Examiner ^ | April 17, 2016 | David M. Drucker

Donald Trump's campaign is going all out to win delegates in Nevada, offering to cover transportation and lodging costs for Nevada supporters who travel to Reno in mid May to participate in delegate elections.

Trump's Nevada activities contradict his claim that he has deliberately declined to invest resources in the election of delegates to the Republican nominating convention in Cleveland because the process is "corrupt."

"With overwhelming success throughout each county, we're in a strong position going into the state convention being held in Reno on May 14th and 15th," Charles Munoz, Trump's Nevada state director, wrote in an email to the billionaire's grassroots supporters. "We'll also be announcing training's, lodging and transportation opportunities for delegates within the next couple days."

Ted Cruz, Trump's closest competitor, has run circles around the reality television star in delegate elections across the country. The Texas senator has installed loyalists on convention delegations that are prepared to vote flip to him once unbound from their obligation to support the candidate that won the caucus or primary in their state....

That’s why the whole system seems corrupt to the average American. It may be legal, but it’s not right. It’s tantamount to buying votes.

“You might want to readjust your moral compass just a wee bit.”

Why? We keep playing by Queensberry Rules and getting our ass kicked, while the liberals play by schoolyard rules and do the kicking.

I wholeheartedly agree that our entire political system is corrupt. The dems have their super delegates while the GOP has this diabolical labyrinth of delegate selection procedures that usurps the will of the voters.
Naturally, I applaud and commend Mr. Trump’s principled stance against taking large PAC contributions, etc., and doing things on his terms. However, we are now down to crunch time and he cannot afford to play it safe any longer.
He must not cut corners in doing whatever necessary to ensure his nomination. It’s clear to me that he has to up the ante immediately to guarantee he has the 1237!!!
Money has to be allocated now to close this deal.
Of course, there is the looming matter of funding the massively expensive general election when, NO DOUBT, he will have to have the wealth of resources from the party.
They have the indispensable data bases and other contacts essential to any winning strategy—above and beyond the billion or two dollars. He won’t be able to bankroll a general election alone; he’s not that liquid or risky!!
What worries me tonight are these scheduled RNC meetings regarding rules for the convention that I understand are to take place in coming weeks!!!
Finally, I’ll follow Mr. Trump wherever he decides to go. Unfortunately, time to mount a third party run is basically gone and write-ins are problematic (many states, I gather, do not accept them). I don’t know whether my state (MD) does or not. All I know is that I cannot vote for any of the other 4 candidates in good conscience.
Mr. Trump is already my president in my heart and mind. I pray that he actually will be elected in November and serve two terms. There is NO OTHER CHOICE FOR OUR FUTURE!!

The author is practicing deception. Trump won Nevada handily without having to wine and dine anyone to get their vote; Nevada was completely different from Colorado and Wyoming.

The week before the Convention Trump could take every delegate to one of his hotels for training then transport them and put them up at the convention.

And most of them would still vote for Cruz.

It has been a teaching moment season for America, hasn’t it.

We learned that we do not have a democracy after all, in the voting booth. Primary votes for candidates are used to simply quantify the allocation of earned delegates to the candidates.

Some delegates are allocated in some states, all delegates are allocated in others, and some states there is no voting at all! I mean, LOL!

It is hilarious when you think about it, if it were just not so tragic.

There is no “majority rule” for the people’s choice for the nomination.

Instead, they call it a “plurality”, so it can’t possibly be a majority vote.

Only the delegates vote is called a “majority”. People are caramel fudge. Only delegates can have their desired outcome called a “majority vote”.

What do you think Trump’s reaction would be if Cruz got a plurality of the votes?

Hell yes. Buy ‘em Donald. Play the game. Win.

Abso-freakin-lutely. He should even make a game of this charade by publicly announcing that whatever Cruz offers his delegates, he'll do what Wal-Mart does and match it. Except go beyond Wal-mart and BEAT it. LOL! Shoot, I would even contribute to a "Buy-A-Delegate" gofundme account. I bet Trumpsters could out-donate the GOPe donor$. What you want to bet that the existing laws in this are as outdated as the existing delegate selection process itself?

If Trump plays this right, he can show the entire world just how corrupt our election process has become. The delegate system may have been fine for pre-Internet days, but it's way past due for a change.

At least, he isn't ignoring them --as he has his delegates in other states.

When delegates "pledge" to a certain candidate (after the 1st obligatory ballot), do they sign some kind of binding contract? What keeps delegates from changing their minds and unpledging themselves once they get to the convention?

After the obligatory number of ballots, a delegate is generally free to go in whatever direction he individually wishes.

However, he might still be subject to some kind of discipline -- as in Rubio delegates might choose to do Rubio's bidding. Or Georgia delegates might be enlisted to follow the state party's lead.

In an earlier day, these secondary control points exhibited firm control -- giving failed candidates and state party leaders considerable negotiating power. But I don't think there is much of that left anymore..

First one claims he ain’t bright enough to use the rules, then, when he decides that it’s either that or have the locusts clean him out, one tries to imply he’s a hypocrite - classy...
