Trump Is Taking On Water
The Federalist ^ | March 31, 2016 | Ben Domenech, Publisher

It was conceivable to see a realistic path for Trump not just to the Republican nomination but to the White House, but that situation is no longer operative.

Donald Trump has not had two weeks this bad since he got into the presidential stakes. His general election polling numbers tell the story: on January 31st, just two months ago, his RealClearPolitics polling average put Trump in a statistical dead heat with Hillary Clinton, trailing her 44-41 percent.

It was conceivable at that moment to see a realistic path for Trump not just to the Republican nomination but to the White House – that he redraws the map in challenging ways and would be a competitive campaigner at the least, even given the inevitable attacks of the Democratic machine. But that situation is no longer operative.

As it stands today, Trump is the only Republican who loses to Hillary Clinton by double digits. The two most recent polls, from Fox News and Bloomberg, find her up by 11 points and 18 points respectively. And a great deal of this has to do with Trump’s hardening opposition among women, particularly Republican women.

At the beginning of the Republican race, Trump was doing well among women, netting more than a third of their support. But a lot has changed since then – he peaked with Republican women in polling in December and has been declining ever since. His unnecessarily vulgar personal attacks – on Megyn Kelly, Carly Fiorina, and Heidi Cruz among others – almost certainly have something to do with that. But there’s something else going on recently which is hurting Trump: he’s not winning....

National polls this far away aren’t designed to reflect; influence and downright manipulation is the aim.

Historical landline polls are prior to widespread adoption of mobile phones, the internet, and the national Do Not Call list. Unless polling organizations have an obscene amount of people standing outside WalMarts with iPads in hand doing face to face polling, then we can talk about negatives more than six months out from a general election.

Most don’t make up their mind about candidates until the last few days before the election.

Message to all Cruzer-Losers:

When Trump finally gets the nomination it is my hope that all of you cruzers-losers realize that you missed the biggest political upheaval since Lincoln. You were on the wrong side of history and hopefully you will re evaluate posting your opinions on a political website like this ever again. You are tainted. You should lose all confidence in yourself to evaluate politics rationally or participate in political discussions ever again. Your opinion means nothing perhaps dangerous is a better word.

He has admitted to being a Cruz bundler.

keyword: admitted

Once you know that, you can see why.

It isn’t going to melt away. It will stay and move for a write in or another party.

That is why that arrogant shyster Cruz was whining about Trump voters walking.

At the very least, he actually told the truth for once.

I don’t owe the GOP a damn thing.

Spot on FRiend 👏This quote sums up my feelings for the nasty Cruzers: We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen. Samuel Adams I find it appropriate.

Women don’t care about the fragile egos of Fiorino, Kelly & Heidi.

Women know that Trump on the campaign will be a lot like Trump in the White House. If he continues to routinely insult any degrade any woman who crosses him, it is going to an ugly four years.

The President has the unique ability to change the course of the popular culture. Just as President Clinton mainstreamed marital infidelity and established the precedent amongst American youth that oral sex was not really sex, a constant barrage of insults directed at women from the Oval Office cannot help but mainstream that kind of behavior in society at large.

People figure that if the President is doing it, openly and without shame, it can't really be all that bad. Every woman who sees the attacks on Kelly, Carly and Heidi and knows what they can expect to see in their own workplaces if this sort of bilge starts flowing out of the White House.

They know that in every office in America, there is a guy, and usually more than one, who has sat through hours and hours of Sexual Harassment training seminars and has still not gotten the memo. This guy thinks that what he does is just fine, and is just itching to let his Inner Pig out of the pen. How bad is that guy going to get if he starts hearing the things he wants to say coming out of the mouth of President Donald Trump?

So, if you have no loyalty to the GOP and don't owe them a damn thing, why should the GOP be particularly interested in who you think should be President?

If you're going to huff and puff and threaten to walk out the door, the rest of us are going to figure out how we are going to proceed after you are gone.

The GOP already doesn’t care what I think. So, I will show them that they made a mistake.

I will walk and I will be proud doing it.

I hate manipulators.

You aren’t going to proceed to do a damn thing. Your votes will be in the hands of illegal immigrants and other 3rd world non Americans.

If you are unable to see that, just wait.

National matchup polls at this time are generally somewhat meaningful but not precise, and not a 100% guarantee. A poll saying that Pee Wee Herman (I once joked about Al Franken similarly, but that was in his SNL days) would lose to Hillary is probably accurate, even if the Witch's margin of victory might be off by several percent.

I think National Matchup Polls are particularly invalid in this particular election year, and here is why:

We have never seen a political animal like Trump before. It is common to the point of cliché that a Republican will lean to the right in the primary and lean toward the center in the general, but I think Donald Trump will bust this pattern by jumping all the way to the Left once he has the nomination in hand.

Trump makes deals. He will tell you this himself. Of course, he will tell you that he makes great deals.

Right now, Trump is trying to close the deal with the Republican electorate and secure the nomination. He is going to do and say what he needs to do and say to make this happen, because that is his goal.

Once this deal is sealed, he is going to be working a new deal with the general electorate in the fall, and he will do and say whatever he needs to do and say in order to close that separate and different deal. The fact that he has to contradict every single position and statement he has made in the past year will not bother him a bit, because he is all about making the deal.

Trump has said this about himself, and I believe him.

So walk, already.

I can't stand all this "I'm a gonna... I'm a gonna..."

If you're out of the GOP, get out. Form your own party, or write in names, or pursue whatever strategy you think is best in your post-GOP political life.

The rest of us will soldier on. The graveyards are full of indispensible men, as Charles DeGaulle said. Somehow, we'll get by.

If [Trump] doesn’t win on the first ballot at the convention, he’s not winning.

Presidents do not indulge in Twitter fights.

I actually do not think Trump polls low with women, I think that is Hillary’s campaign preparing the contest for the fall.

With all due respect, that is called "believing what you want to believe" as opposed to recognizing reality.

Trump's boorish behavior is increasingly turning off women -- not to mention men. Presidents don't engage in Twitter wars, nor do they issue demeaning personal insults or speak without first thinking.

Presidents persuade, they don't bully. Presidents understand and follow the Constitution, they don't betray an understanding of government somewhere short of 8th grade Civics.

Its true tho. The Soros, MSM, Establishment, Democrat and Cruz camp has been saying this variation of the war on Women strategy since Trump began running.

Sooooooo, if Soros, MSM, GOPe, DNC and the Cruz camp all say the sky is blue then they must all be in cahoots.

You Trump people baffle me. It's like Trump has some how disabled the cognitive reasoning abilities of his followers. The Trump movement has 'cult' written all over it.
