It was conceivable to see a realistic path for Trump not just to the Republican nomination but to the White House, but that situation is no longer operative.
Donald Trump has not had two weeks this bad since he got into the presidential stakes. His general election polling numbers tell the story: on January 31st, just two months ago, his RealClearPolitics polling average put Trump in a statistical dead heat with Hillary Clinton, trailing her 44-41 percent.
It was conceivable at that moment to see a realistic path for Trump not just to the Republican nomination but to the White House that he redraws the map in challenging ways and would be a competitive campaigner at the least, even given the inevitable attacks of the Democratic machine. But that situation is no longer operative.
As it stands today, Trump is the only Republican who loses to Hillary Clinton by double digits. The two most recent polls, from Fox News and Bloomberg, find her up by 11 points and 18 points respectively. And a great deal of this has to do with Trumps hardening opposition among women, particularly Republican women.
At the beginning of the Republican race, Trump was doing well among women, netting more than a third of their support. But a lot has changed since then he peaked with Republican women in polling in December and has been declining ever since. His unnecessarily vulgar personal attacks on Megyn Kelly, Carly Fiorina, and Heidi Cruz among others almost certainly have something to do with that. But theres something else going on recently which is hurting Trump: hes not winning....

Bogus poll numbers, bogus allegations, and bogus conclusions equals garbage in - garbage out (GIGO).
I agree completely.
2ndDivisionVet is on an anti-Trump crime spree.
Day after day, night after night, over and over, and over.
It is one anti-Trump nonsense post, after another.
I mean he’s consistent and all, but really.
we will see on tuesday
and day after day u walk around blinded
I like your sense of humor. This is Free Republic, and we're in primary campaign mode. (1) We won't read before posting, and (2) we certainly won't bother thinking and digesting, not when a knee-jerk reaction was ready as soon as we read half the article title!
That said, Trump is doomed.
Doomed, I say, Doomed!
DOOMED!!!
Now, I'll go read the rest of the article and see if it said something important.
I’m just saying.
Trump is leading, Trump is for American jobs, Trump is not for illegal aliens, and Trump is not for ever-more international involvement.
Trump is for rebuilding our very own country.
Trump is for everything I am for. I mean that.
Cue the "Oh noes" kitty graphic.
SubMareener, where are you?
As a celebrity candidate who threw the base some red meat on Amnesty, Trumps flaws were glossed over, but over time the man’s flaws, political and psychological are becoming harder to hide. He can’t resist lashing out when he’s been offended. Meagan Kelly asks an admittedly misleading question and Trump makes a reference to get minstrel cycle. A PAC publishes a picture of Trumps latest model wife that she herself published previously and Trump respond by calling his opponents wife uglier than his. And let’s not forget his unprovoked attack on Carly Fiorina’s appearance. His juvenile temper tantrums combined with his continuing praise of government run centralized health care and his recent sort of every liberal cause from amnesty and abortion to gun control is finally starting to catch up with him. If he doesn’t win on the first ballot at the convention, he’s not winning.
So you are for abortion, gun control, job killing trade wars, price increasing tariffs. A 14% confiscation of personal wealth and amnesty? Because those are all things trump had advocated for while Obama’s been in office.
I thought I’d try it once, for a laugh.
Vet posts threads that are insightful and require actual reading of the articles to get the full picture.
I’m voting for Trump in NY most likely, but I have never seen him put a nonsensical thread on this board or make nonsensical posts in reply to insults.
jmho
Did you guy read the article?
that was funny. :)
I am reading more and more articles because sometimes there are 100 posts and when I finish reading the article, it is sometimes completely opposite of the title!!!!
then I try to tell people but what’s the use lol.
I am (not) for abortions. I am (not) for gun control. Neither I might add, is Trump.
I am however thinking, a good trade war is exactly what America needs. Heck yes.
Price increasing tariffs? If it means more American jobs, again heck yes.
I don’t know where your “14% confiscation” of anything comes from, but I suppose it comes from the same point some of your other stuff does. :D
Go Trump.
and yes, I am VERY GUILTY a lot of times too of the same thing!!!
isnt that what you people want to hear?---Trump
There's your Trump campaign in a nutshell.
And if you think Trump polls low with women now wait until he launches his clumsy school yard attacks against Hillary. If Trump somehow steals the nomination we'll wake up to a president-elect Hillary Rotten Clinton the morning after the election.
I actually do not think Trump polls low with women, I think that is Hillary’s campaign preparing the contest for the fall.
I really think that is made-up, and being played by both the Hillary campaign (big time) and the Cruz campaign.
But that is just my opinion, of course.
A large part of Trump’s appeal has been that he is a Winning Winner Who Wins. Once that is no longer the case, a lot of Trump’s support will melt away.
The vast (add group here) wing conspiracy. Yeah. That's it.
Am I the only Freeper with Google and you tube. Trump nd advocated a “one time” confiscation of personal wealth for the evil rich. He criticized the GOP last election for opposing amnesty, he has repeatedly said that he is for abortion and that he hates guns. I could send you the links like I have done for others, but you would just reply, “That is so fifteen minutes ago.” And if you think tariffs are good for the economy, try telling that to the working family that sees the price of a new TV go up by 50 percent, or the automaker that had to lay off workers when the rest of the world retaliates with tariffs of their own.
