Recent history says the GOP won't learn its lesson next time around.
Donald Trump is halfway to the Republican presidential nomination. Sen. Ted Cruz is the only rival who can catch him. Many Republicans think either candidate would be a disastrous nominee, but they aren't sure which is worse. Trump is volatile and incendiary. Cruz is dogmatic and abrasive. Choosing between them, in the words of Sen. Lindsey Graham, is like choosing between "being shot or poisoned."
The good news, these Republicans figure, is that neither injury would be fatal. With Trump or Cruz at the top of the ticket, 2016 will be a bad year. But the loss will sober Republican voters. They'll learn that rejecting the establishment candidate, and nominating an angry outsider or a zealot instead, just surrenders more votes and more power to the Democrats. The GOP's fever will break, and in 2020 Republicans will choose a more mainstream candidate....

Feel the Flair!!!
Cruz would be a disruptor as VP. I doubt Donald would consider someone who tells everyone else what to do...no matter their position.
Prosperity? Nope worse economy since 1979.
Reduction in Government-nope as expensive, corrupt, incompetent, intrusive and bigger then ever
Supreme Court? Nope as far left as it has ever been.
A Nation secure? Nope at risk in a dangerous world. Military broken, exhausted and overextended.
A respect for rule of law and the Constitution? Nope. Government, and society, is more lawless then it has ever been.
A healthy growing vibrant society? Nope stagnant, or in decline, everywhere in every way.
So, it not Nihilism, it Realism that drive Trump. It is a realistic assessment that doing the same thing again this year electorally is going to continue this decline and degradation from DC.You can only overcome inertia in any system with force. So we need to force DC out of it denigrate path onto a new path.
The Dogmatic choir of “Movement Conservatives” here are clinging to the same slogans and buzz words that have failed for 30 years to accomplish a single thing.
At some point you really need to take a look at what is happening in America, and realize it is starting to make sense for Cruz to back out and let Trump win this thing.
Cruz had a good run. He really did. But all he is doing now is working toward some back-room mess which will deny voters their choice.
You ran a good and determined fight for Cruz, but he’s not going to win.
At some point, your guy needs to stand down and support the guy who is getting (by far) the most American votes.
There is time for Cruz again, in the future.
This election, is starting to look like it is all about Trump.
And rebuilding America.
As a Conservative/Libertarian. I’m stuck between the populist progressive and the crony capitalist progressive wings of the Republican party. I’m not represented by anybody. No need to explain.
With Trump it’s always all about Trump.
There won’t be an election in 2020.
“2016 will be a very good year.”
....for democrats socialists, and gun control advocates.
Oh child as amusing as it is to watch you feverishly strain every brain cell trying to form a half way coherent response, do stop before you hurt yourself.
I don’t agree.
I believe Donald is about rebuilding America.
Nobody else in either party, for over one entire generation, has been.
Everyone in both parties has been selling out our very own country time after time, in every issue. Everyone. Every single person.
Trump is saying we need to be for America once again.
He is the only one. ANYWHERE.
“If Donald Trump loses, itll likely be because the Establishment sabotaged him.”
Getting the excuses ready?
WHEN Trump loses it will be because we nominated a candidate who is hated more than Hillary.
His negatives in the polls are higher than the worst Democrat nominee in history. Think about it.
Cruz has done better than I expected.
He’s a young guy in POTUS years and on a learning curve.
He’ll come back a stronger candidate in the future.
If there’s a way, he should try and get the Canada thing adjudicated to get it out of the discussion next time.
Everyone needs to remember it took Reagan three tries.
If Cruz wasn’t born on American Soil to be legal to run for Prez or V.P. in 2016, what makes you think he would be legal for 2020?
Still same problem, he wasn’t born on American Soil, he’s not Natural Born American...
2020?
First let’s get through 2016.
i have to know what you’re talking about before I can even begin to strain my brain cells.
Yes Bill, Ted will be re-elected to a SECOND TERM in 2020.
Is Ted Cruz a natural-born citizen eligible to serve as president? [Yes! And I support him! JimRob]

Cruz is ALL about the Constitution except Section 1 Article Two
He was NOT born on American Soil...he was born on Canadian Soil, his father was born on Cuban Soil...
His mother cannot transfer ‘naturalization’ to him, only his Father can...
At the time when Cruz was born in Canada, there wasn’t duel citizenship, she had to become a Canadian Citizen, where is her Citizenship now to re-establish her American ‘citizenship’?
He said he held duel citizenship in 2014 when he denounced his Canadian citizenship, so where is his ‘Natural Born American’ birth certificate?
He doesn’t have one, the best he could be is a ‘citizen’ of the United States, not a Natural Born Citizen...
His father didn’t become an American ‘citizen’ until 2005, Cruz
The weirdest thing to me is that he did this reality show dog squeeze and pro-wrestling stuff not because he had to, but because he just really dug it or something.
