COLUMBIA -- Contention in the Republican presidential contest ticked up a notch Wednesday when Sen. Ted Cruz responded to a cease-and-desist request from Donald Trump's camp asking him to stop playing an advertisement by saying, "file the lawsuit."

Cruz told reporters in the morning that the letter accused his campaign of misleading the public in a TV ad that includes footage of Trump saying he is "very pro-choice."

"The letter said this attack ad, as they called it, is not only completely disingenuous but replete with lies, false defamatory and destructive statements and downright fabrications," he said, according to a CNN video.

Cruz said the letter threatened to sue him if the campaign doesn't remove the ad....

Well the problem is the ‘suit’ isn’t actually what you think a ‘suit’ is....the ‘suit’ is still hanging on the hanger, they are trying to find the person that the ‘suit’ belongs to....he’s probably gone to Canada by now....

It depends on whether Trump is what we hope he is. If he is the leg breaker we hope, yah.

One thing is sure, Cruz will not get anywhere without help. He is totally unpopular.

I may have told you Mark Steyn’s story when he subbed for Rush. Steyn was called by Cruz to give testimony before the Cruz’s senate panel on “global warming.” Steyn was embarrassed because Cruz couldn’t get ONE other Republican senator there

I admire your courage to continue with challenging Cruz supporters. It’s getting difficult to even come by here because of the nastiness of Cruz supporters. The personal attacks are unnecessary. I like Ted too but I like Trumps straightforwardness better. I do think Cruz is not being honest and some of the things hes done or doing scares me more than Trump. There are a lot of people that don’t like negative ads. You can judge those by the company they keep or surround themselves with and Cruz has some questionable people around him that he’ll owe big time.
Apparently, no one has a right to change their minds on any thing anymore other wise you’re not a purist. Having said that I’d vote for Cruz in a heartbeat but I just don’t think his purist position is going to win in the general election and so what is he going to do, be dishonest and move more to the center to get elected; just wondering.

If nothing else the Cruz supporters including talk radio will be able to say see we nominated a purist but what is it going to get them from there on.

So far, Trump has pretty much manipulated Cruz into doing the worst possible thing for Cruz. Yeah, IA. Yet Trump got an astounding 38,000 votes-—which should have been more than enough to win-—8,000 MORE than Santorum. Who knew Cruz could get 45,000?

Anyway, after that, Trump has goaded Cruz into increasingly more religious language, which is losing conservatives and even evangelicals according to poll after poll.

I don’t know exactly how Trump is pushing the buttons, but he seems to totally know how to get just the right reaction out of Cruz and Rubio.

When Sen Cruz was a brilliant student at Harvard, studying under Prof. Dershowitz, he didn’t know his citizenship status. He apparently didn’t know he was a Canadian citizen until it was brought to his attention two years ago, when he got around to renouncing that citizenship.

There is a form US citizens have to submit when they have a child born abroad. (Consular Report of Birth Abroad). Does Sen. Cruz have one that was filed at or shortly after the time of his birth? Do you know? Does anyone know? This is what I am speaking of regarding his parents’ ignorance of the issue. Traveling between the US and Canada was easy 45 years ago. They may not have recognized the obligation to file those papers for their son if they wanted him to be a US citizen. If they didn’t file, it is, in fact, very much an issue of what his parents knew or didn’t know. As I said previously, Military and Foreign Service families are familiar with this procedure. A Cuban exile who himself was not a US citizen, working in the oil fields largely removed from the American expat community, may not have know of it.

But, it is not Sen Cruz’s citizenship status, as such, that is being challenged. It is his “natural born citizen”ship that is being challenged, the Constitutional requirement to serve as POTUS. Although now I have seen articles questioning whether he is eligible to serve in the US Senate if that Consular Report wasn’t filed. I don’t know, nor am I speculating about whether it was filed or not, but who really knows?

Is Trump running ads featuring Cruz calling for legalization, more immigration, more H1-B visas, and they are NOT twenty years old?

Rather, it is better you should ask, is there anyone planning on voting for Bernie Sanders, and *they* are not twenty years old?

I guess I did not know Trump was for partial birth abortion. Good grief!
.........................................................
Sixteen years ago he said he had been told about the processs by two doctors he trusted and since then has been totally AGAINST partial birth abortion. HOWEVER. the Cruz team keeps talking about more than 16 years ago as if it were today.

Cruz is a sleaze-ball professional politic who is NOT ELIGIBLE to be president. He is a liar, cheat, and dirty player. And YOU want him as president. What does that say about you?

Cruz would be the best replacement for Scalia that is currently in the public eye. Do you think he would be confirmed?

I think the GOP-e would be as happy as the Dems, to see him leave the Senate; Hillary would be glad not to chance facing him in the general election; Bernie Sanders would probably get confused and think he was a member of MS-13 or something (see below); but I can't see Obama going for it.

I am sorry, I think you make some good points, but I can’t stop laughing at the book cover. I am sure you know I actually was wondering if Cruz would be confirmed after a Republican President nominated him.

It says that I know that all you wrote there shows your limited supply of adjectives, much the same as Trumps. Seems you’ve been reading from his talking points...does he send them out daily? rofl

I don't know, you don't know, BUT TED CRUZ knows...and I fully comprehend that TED CRUZ is more than able to handle Donnie in this matter.

But, if you are so sure of yourself, why don't you join Trump in that lawsuit, Ted can Depose you as well. I'd pay double to watch that.

Perhaps. He will most likely win in SC but Americans generally speaking don’t like people who go around threatening to sue people every day. It’s pretty childish. Especially when the proposed litigation is for defamation for something you said on video, but he has millions to waste on legal fees and if he thinks it makes him look like a tough guy. Why not?
