Donald Trumpâs decision to skip the next debate marked yet another unexpected twist in his presidential campaign but probably a very smart political decision.
Trumpâs conflict with Fox News started after Trump began bashing moderator Megyn Kelly, whose questions in the first GOP debate he said were unfair. But it quickly turned into the entire network mocking him.
When Trump polled his Twitter followers about whether he should participate, Fox News put out a news release mocking him:
âWe learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president â a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.â
That jab was too much and Trump followed his own negotiating advice from The Art of the Deal and walked away from the table. After spending most of his campaign arguing that the world laughs at President Obama because he is a terrible negotiator, it was really Trumpâs only move.

Some poll out tonight has Jeb! in second place in New Hampshire.

Anyone thinking Trump loses this game of chicken hasn’t been paying attention for the past 6 months.
This event has played out over and over and over again and Trump wins every time
Frantic phone calls ignored. Report is he will now only deal with Murdoch
WHO is going to watch that thing?
Ratings will push through the floorboards, just WAIT.
Now Fox has to bring a muzz into o GOP debate. Trump
Is smart to stay out of it. Let the others bow down.
Trump is running out the clock and foiled the expected ambush by Fox on the eve of the Iowa caucus.
Are we tired of winning yet!
Go Trump!
GO TRUMP
The smart general chooses his battles, he doesn’t let his enemies choose his battles for him.
He’s going to be doing a wounded veterans fund raiser instead. I hope it beats the fox debate ratings into the ground.
I would avoid muslim directed inquisitions as well.

I bet he shows up. He’s too much of a showboat not to.
Fox has been constantly trashing Trump .. Fox just got out foxed
Yuck, they included a Muslim at the debate? That is low, even though I’m no gan of Trump.

That is an incredibly unprofessional comment from FNC management personnel. Then FNC follows that up with the Muslim ringer planned for the “debate.”
Any candidate - repeat - ANY candidate who did NOT walk away from this so-called “debate” after all that would indeed qualify as a P U S S Y. And a SUCKER. And a FOOL. In other words, a typical, spineless GOPe hack destined to lose.
Good job, Donald Trump. And screw you, Fox News Channel.
Close the effin’ borders. Bring our jobs back. Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way!
Yup.
This is just the first time a candidate has said that he will NOT PLAY ALONG.
While supporters for some other guy want to posture, looking for a way to side with the press in a vain hope of scoring some political points, people will see that Trump did exactly what should have been done.
I love how the political class thinks this is a bad move by Trump.
What will actually happen?
1) Trump will ride this wave of publicity through the Iowa Caucuses.
2) Trump will compare Fox’s first debate ratings (roughly 25 million) to this debate, which even if Trump was there would have been 14 million or so. and go with the line, I am not there, the ratings tank.
3) Trump’s supporters won’t care.
4) Iowans won’t care as this is the seventh debate of the cycle.
Trump knows he has nothing to lose here, plus he shows Independents that he’s not taking crap from Conservative-bastion Fox.
