In the aftermath of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's endorsement of Donald Trump, conventional wisdom says that Trump is back on top in the first primary state of Iowa after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) jumped ahead in the state polls a few weeks ago.
Charles Krauthammer said, "I think this could be decisive... not because it helps Trump or it brings him additional support, but that it hurts Cruz. The one thing standing between Trump and success in Iowa is Cruz. He attributes his success in becoming a Senator to her. She now turns against him." Mark Halperin of Bloomberg said on MSNBC, "I think at this point, if you said, of all the people in the race, who's the one most likely to win both Iowa and New Hampshire, today you'd have to say it's Trump." Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) 's top 2008 strategist, Steve Schmidt, says, "If you were betting on who's going to be the Republican nominee today, you'd put your money on either Trump or Cruz... And with the odds favoring Trump."
But Ted Cruz can still win Iowa...

Can Cruz really be blamed for that?
It’s the only time he will be able to take that oath while on TV.
Reagan lost in 1968 and 1976.
Cruz got bushwhacked by Beck’s craziness. I felt bad for the guy, he was like a deer caught in the headlights.
It is my belief, the MSM will give positive spin for Trump, he is their prefered candidate to run against the democrat. Ted Cruz one on one with the dem, would wipe their clock.
“Ted Cruz must continue to pound away the message that Trump isn’t conservative enough and that he reflects “New York values” in order to win Iowa.”
*************
The “not conservative enough” is definitional and weak form of persuasion. Ted would be a fool to bring up the “New York Values” line again in the next debate. It didn’t work too well for him last time.
The jury is out about that.
You mean that wasn’t planned exercise?
Seesh, Cruz should have been faster on his feet and stopped it.
I hope so.
Cruz would make a huge impact on the GOP, pushing it in a more conservative direction by supporting conservative candidate as the President of the US. Trump is not likely to do that. Also, I sure don’t know what kind of Supreme Court nominee Trump would make. Are we willing to take that chance when many of our rights are hanging by a 5-4 margin?
That’s why the GOPe are pulling all the stops to defeat Cruz, including supporting Trump who they hate. Trump though is not as dangerous to them and to business as usual as Cruz is.

Yeah, but if Cruz, or at least a conservative doesn't win this time,.....there will not be a next time. We will find out why America is not mentioned in Revelation of the Bible. Just think about at least 2, and maybe 3 SCOTUS judges are going to the next winner. The damage will be for more than the next 50 years. We CAN'T recover from that.
Cruz wins Iowa by 3%. Comes in essentially tied for second in NH (right now it is a very tight race and any one of 4 candidates can come in second depending on how undecideds break). Cruz carries evangelical and conservative support into South Carolina and comes in a very close (statistically tied) second to Trump. Cruz shocks the talking heads by winning Nevada.
Then it’s Super Tuesday and Cruz rolls up every state.
I’m still not sure how Kentucky breaks. Paul supporters are very organized in educating themselves about the new caucus procedure. Cruz is just starting there. Trump has no presence at all.
You need to add:
Supported the guy who made Chicago a sanctuary city? Trump: YES, Cruz: NO
I agree. Cruz will win Iowa.
Aw, jeez. Not another chart :- /
Did this replace the Twister board?
Kraut hammer doesn’t like fakes.
So of course he doesn’t like Trump.

Organization may make the difference, But. Cruz doesn’t have to win Iowa.
You’ve heard that from me for months...
Piece of cake. All he has to do is get the most votes.
On Judge Jeanine last night both Huckabee and Santorum said when they won in Iowa they stood second to last in polls beforehand. I seriously doubt we can be positive anyone is a definite lock. Winner needs to get out the voters.
I am surprised in Iowa that Rubio is getting absolutely hammered on TV ads every 5 minutes. The kid is still standing, I will at least give him props for that.
