DES MOINES â It is a portrait of deep frustration. Jeb Bushâs campaign has 10 paid staff members in Iowa, it has made 70,380 phone calls to state Republicans and it has collected 5,000 email addresses. For all that, it has recruited just four volunteers statewide and has identified only 1,260 supporters.
The metrics were shown to campaign donors in Houston this week and revealed on Thursday as part of a detailed strategy memo obtained by U.S. News & World Report.
Upbeat excerpts from the briefing, which called Senator Marco Rubio of Florida âa G.O.P. Obamaâ and Mr. Bushâs chief rival, had been previously shared with reporters.
But the full 112-page memo, which has more sensitive information, surfaced the day after Mr. Bush delivered a lackluster debate performance and was upstaged by Mr. Rubio.
On Saturday, both will appear with eight other Republican candidates at a forum in Des Moines. Iowa, the state with the first nominating contest, has been rocky terrain for Mr. Bush because of its large evangelical bloc and hostility to mainstream politicians....

Keep working that strategy Heb.
Less strategery and MORE sugar, Yeb. You clown.
People just don’t like the guy!
I am actually starting to feel sorry for him.
Jeb Bush-—the candidate that few VOTERS want except for the elites that can line their pockets from connections.
Too many chairs.
How many of the 1260 supporters were signing on just to be polite?
Maybe they need to campaign in Spanish more.....
On a side note....I got a call from the NRSC, today...and actually answered. What a gloriously great time I had...worth every minute of my time.
The guy sounded like a recorded announcement going on and on about our Republican Majority being threatened, 0bama’s disastrous policies, NRSC’s conservative message....yada, yada.
I finally got to ask, “Are you a recording?” He said, no....and I proceeded to unload on him...with BOTH barrels.
Told him EVERY thing he had just said was a LIE...that our giving the Pubs the MAJORITY has done NOTHING....as all they’ve done is give 0bola EVERYTHING he’s asked for...thanks to RINO’s like McConnell, Cornyn and McStain....and that they’d NEVER receive another penny from me...that my votes and financial support would go ONLY to Trump....because the RiNO NSRC has completely blown it!!
FWIW...it made me feel MUCH better :)
That is downright humiliating.
I can’t feel bad for him though, because this is one well-earned hot poker in the @$$ for the Republican establishment. For months before Jeb! entered the race the talking heads and pundits had decreed him to be the frontrunner and the probable nominee. They are probably still in shock over what’s happened, like Lindsey “how I am losing to these guys” Graham. They think the universe revolves around Washington DC and are now finding out that there are a few hundred million people that disagree.
I could never feel sorry for mrtippytoes.
Doesn’t he see he has only 16 chairs? I wonder how many are for press? Unless a deal is in the works to make him nominee via a dirty trick from gope?
Stay out daBushes!
I’m not.
He a spoiled, elitist, asshole who has never done an honest day’s work in his life.
I have a cell phone that doesn’t have built in call screening (Moto E).
Here is my solution to screen calls. I created a White-list of allowed callers. Here’s how.
In Audacity on my PC I created a 10-second Silent MP3 ringtone.
I loaded this Silent MP3 ringtone into my Moto E and made it the Default ring. Then for all of my desired contacts, I gave them individual real ringtones.
Now when an unknown caller calls (like a robo-call, telemarketer, etc, etc), it doesn’t ring my phone and disturb me, as they get the Silent ringtone. They can still leave a voice-mail. But I would rather screen them that way then have to deal with a live annoying caller.
Good for you!
