Well I guess someone wasnt getting enough attention.
In Iowa earlier today, Ted Cruz told ThinkProgress reporter Kira Lerner that Black Lives Matter, a decentralized movement calling for racial justice and an end to police brutality, is literally suggesting and embracing and celebrating the murder of police officers.
As Lerner pointed out in the write-up of her interview with Cruz, the number of police officer deaths has been steadily declining, while police killings have remained high; for point of comparison, 51 police officers were killed last year in the line of duty, while police officers killed 1,107 people on the job. If anything, Black Lives Matter has encouraged the police to circle the wagons and get more aggressive, not the other way around.
In fact, the one case of violence against the police that Cruz cited the shooting of Deputy Darren Goforth has no clear connection to the Black Lives Matter movement. That, of course, didnt stop Cruz from implying that Deputy Goforths death was Obamas fault, stemming from the broader vilification of law enforcement that he claims has taken place during the presidents time in office. As Lerner wrote:
To illustrate his point, Cruz echoed popular conservative rhetoric, saying that crime rates have spiked across the country because police officers are afraid of protesters. The month of July was especially bloody in Baltimore with the murders of 50 people, including 45 African Americans, because murderers and rapists were encouraged by the lack of law enforcement, he said.
If you want to talk about Black Lives Matter, thats 45 dead black lives, he continued. Because of the rise in crime, it was the bloodiest month since the 1960s in Baltimore The best way to protect black lives is to keep them safe from murderers and criminals who would prey on them.
Claims that the crime rate is spiking, as well as the accusation that Black Lives Matter is responsible, have been shown to be overblown and inaccurate.
Cruz knows as well as anyone that theres nothing but upside in going back to the race well in the Republican primary. Trump got plenty of lift going after Mexicans, Ben Carson with Muslims (plus his wink-and-nod to white voters on the Confederate Flag); and now Cruz with black people. As Cruz has positioned himself to be the Trump, but with an actual campaign infrastructure candidate in the race, hes going to have to start peeling off the racist vote from the fields two front runners.
And what better way to start than by implying that an explicitly anti-death movement is actually encouraging murder?

‘Nuff said!
Nice looking young man, too bad his brain is so warped.
When black violence kills enough non blacks someone will have to insert the words ‘no longer’ in their title and for some reason many blacks seem to be working hard to make it happen.
Hopefully when the SHTF, decent blacks will not suffer what the rest will bring on themselves.
Kenyon College: where Oberlin College rejects go!
This is your child’s brain after being indoctrinated at a Leftist university. He can regurgitate this verbal vomit without ever engaging his brain....another success story for those dedicated to destroying America.
What the hell is political cognition?
