As real-estate mogul Donald Trump rocketed up the polls in the GOP presidential primary, many observers have been left scratching their heads. After all, his baffled critics argue, Trump is merely a celebrity candidate with a gigantic amount of name recognition being further lifted by the media maelstrom that follows his every tweet, statement, and speech.
Rival candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) this week attributed Trump's rise to a brief "loss of sanity" in the race.
"I think this is a temporary sort of loss of sanity. But we're going to come back our senses and look for somebody serious to lead the country at some point," Paul said in a Thursday CNN interview.
It does appear, however, that Trump has a real base of support at least for now.
"He's not going away," Steve Duprey, a Republican National Committee member, told Reuters when the wire service published yet another poll showing Trump ahead. "There are people who think his candidacy is a flash in the pan or a flash in the moment, but I think that underestimates his appeal."

I’m still intending to vote for Cruz.
I am enjoying watching the show.
If Trump is the only way to stop ¡Yeb! , I’m OK with that.
He at least loves America and does not want to turn it into North Mexico like ¡Yeb!
Look carefully, it’s a retweet of @USARestoring.
No, that’s Trump’s tweet
Because you would see the words “Donald J. Trump retweeted” another tweet.
Moreover, the retweet would not have the location of the tweet.
The one you see above says “Manhattan, NY. United States” which is Trump’s hometown.
He retweets by copying and pasting people’s tweets in quotes. So it would certainly say Manhatten. Check his TL. You’ll see what I mean.
No retweet involved. He tweeted to these three “@USARestoring: @HillaryClinton” and “@TGowdySC”
“Donald Trump Just Announced His Pick for Attorney General Hillarys Worst Nightmare!
Political Insider ^ | July 27, 2015 “

And you can go directly to his twitter page and look at it.

Original tweet is by @USARestoring on @USARestoring’s twitter page dated 27 July:
@HillaryClinton’s toast. Dems had better get the “B Team” off the bench. @TGowdySC for Attorney General under President @realDonaldTrump
DT retweeted it. Go look.
Oh, no! My man, Lindsey Graham is only polling at one-half of one percent!
What to do, what to do?
Candy and flowers are always good.
Tom Gregg Tweeting at Gowdy though.
It was there 10 min ago. I copied the text directly from the timeline.
24th tweet from the top.
I looked at 23, 24, 25...30 no direct copy paste.
You guys are something else. Restore USA may have given the Trump idea to announce Gowdy as his AG on his Twitter page. I see no direct copy paste, and stating Hillary is “toast”if he becomes pres.
He’s putting on a show. Doesn’t matter of it’s Hillary, as long as it’s a DNC member he’ll be there to take the fall.
It’s just, there’s Trump, the guy who’s dumped millions into the DNC including $100,000 into the Clinton Foundation. He’s a fake.
So he calls Clinton, one of the people he’s supported so many times, a criminal? Yeah, those boxers who take dives still put on gloves and try to keep an honest looking fight going before falling as well.
He’s admitted to bribes and knows what bribes are for donors due to his history in doing so. If he manages to somehow fake his way into the front, he’ll be taken to task over those donations/bribes and his history by the DNC.
People forget things, which is what Trump knows and is manipulating. A Liberal democrat for quite some time and here he is faking conservative to insure one of his DNC buddies a victory.
I appreciate Trump even though I support and donate to Cruz - see how easy?
Get a handle on proportions.
$100,000 = 0.001 % of Trump’s net worth.
To make it easier to understand, it is same as,
giving someone $1 while you have $100,000 in the bank.
That’s 100k towards the enemy. Not to mention the loads of money he and his son both tossed at the DNC over the years.
Funding the enemy is funding the enemy.
