Donald Trump is many things -- a demagogue and a pompous blowhard, a braggart and a race baiter -- but in the end, he's nobody's fool, except perhaps his own. Thus, his recent lauding of Sarah Palin and his hiring of her former Chief of Staff reveal that Trump's campaign for the presidency is, ultimately, more of a circus act than it is a serious endeavor for the White House. If Trump were really serious, he'd be keeping the quitter governor at bay.
Trump and Palin have many things in common--and Palin has long been enamored of the Trump family's gawdy wealth and garish celebrity--but what they share in terms of American national politics are elevated "unfavorable" ratings (even within the Republican Party) and, as a result, a hard, impenetrable ceiling to their national political ambitions. Trump is polling extremely poorly among women--both Democrats and Republicans alike--with unfavorable ratings above the 60 percentile a year before the election. Any bookie will tell you that you simply cannot get around numbers like that. Palin knew it, and he knows it, too.
Like the late Huey Long and Joe McCarthy, both Trump and Palin have tapped into the deep anger and fear of a small but volatile slice of the American body politic. It's a real and complicated demographic, largely misunderstood by the American media, who are far too isolated to either grasp or understand this troubling swath of the American electorate. Both Trump and Palin have uttered racialized attacks on Obama and have tapped into deep-seated strains of intolerance in their comments on immigration and other significant issues facing this country. Palin treaded into even uglier cesspools of racism this week when she compared the Confederate flag to the Planned Parenthood logo. This woman knows no shame....

Barack Obama is many things -- a demagogue and a pompous blowhard, a braggart and a race baiter, an inveterate liar and a coward, a talentless traitor, an officious ass, and a bad golfer.
But I'll bet that didn't stop the author from voting for him ... twice.
Palin is the “quitter governor”. Does that make Hillary the “quitter senator”?
And by the way, Clinton promised in his last debate for governor that he would not run for president if he was re-elected governor. A flat out lie. That makes him a “quitter governor”, too.
A brass toilet bowl.
Well I guess John McCain wasn’t serious about the Presidency back in 08.
CNN just yesterday did a number on Trump’s compliments to Palin. Now this from Huffer Post.
These sources really want to cost him for that Palin mention with moderates and Democrats who may have been interested in Trump. They have to head off any Trump pick up from them. Nobody in the middle wants Hillary. Trump had a chance at them.
Oh well, he surely knew the risks. But, I’ve been informed Trump does somewhat better with moderates than the conservatives, so maybe he is shoring up his conservative support that may not be so strong as I had presumed.
So you’ve bought in to the “women and moderates hate Palin” gobbledygook?
Did you read where Ann Coulter wants to be Trump’s Homeland Security chief? Not a bad idea at all. Ann is a shrew about some things and immigration is one of her things.
It proves he is most serious about changing the way things are done.
God knows how wrong you are now.
Sarah is clear thinking and supports the America of before our current leader, began His remake regime.
America has been high jacked and we all sit here and quibble over the least of the major changes and apparently take no note of the disastrous road we (America) is on now. God help and save America. forgive us LORD for our careless ways. Thou has richly blessed and favored America. Help us and turn us back to Thee,(NOW), Father, we know not what we do, thank Thee for life, health, America, freedom of thought and speech and activity, let us repent and seek forgiveness, in Jesus name, amen..
Wow ! I didn’t know that . YES !Ann coulter Homeland Security
Ann Coulter and Scott Walker are the only ones that I heard say that illegal immigration and LEGAL 3rd world immigration are huge problems for America that are moving the USA toward becoming a socialist hell hole.

Then Tom Tancredo can be Secretary of State
Yes sir Lancelot Tom Tancredo if we’d only listened to him.
You think I wrote this article?
Hey there, Geoffrey Dunn, author and film maker,
You’ve opined that Trump isn’t running a “serious” campaign, evidenced by his friendship with Sarah Palin and his hiring of one of her people.
I’m on the edge of my chair with bated breath. Please enlighten us unwashed philistines. Upon which of the recent GOP campaigns would you bestow the honor of being condidered “serious”?
Dole-Kemp, maybe. Dole made a few speeches, actually said nothing and inspired noone, while Kemp made a few stops and spent most of the time throwing a football around, apparently assuming his former QB status would win an election. Was THAT serious?
Would it be Pappy Bush, who once he welshed on his NO NEW TAXES pledge, was dead meat. Was he serious?
And then there’s Juan Macquesne; champion of illegal alien border crashers. Picked one of the best Veep candidates on the planet, and then threw her to the wolves when his own staff turned on her. The little ratfaced turncoat said not a mumbling word in her defense. In fact, the chicken little creep actually FORBADE Sarah to campaign against Obunga or say a derrogatory word about him.
Come to think of it; when Romney choked and went into hiding for the final month of the 2012 debacle, he wasn’t the first in recent memory to do that. Juan took of the last weeks of his campaign and went back to his cushy seat in the Senate, basically conceding the election. Were either of those campaigns “serious”?
Go peddle your drivel somewhere else. We’re not buying.
Trump - Cruz 2016.
Well, let’s set aside the source called “gobbledygook” and just stick with experience. I would say, speaking for myself, that I have never had a single encounter with a moderate-anything who expressed support for Sarah, ever, but, I hope you have.
The Left may agree with you though, because they are definitely minding their herd and trying to keep everyone on the reservation and away from Trump. Palin is their slingshot to the butt. :)
If you’re interested in a REAL book; a “serious” book, then the 2nd Edition of Trump’s book comes out on Thursday. I have NEVER bought a new book on its release date. But for Trump’s book, I will be at the bookstore before noon.
