Who are you voting for?

“I know this comes as a shock to the ideological purists, but conservatives do not constitute a majority of voters, so in order to win you have to offer something that moderates and independents will find attractive enough to vote for. If you can’t get elected, it really doesn’t matter much what your plans and ideas are, because you won’t be able to put them in effect. So it’s really pretty simple.”

Could you tell me again how this “moderate” is going to bring back the Republic that we lost and erase the tyranny that we currently live under?

There are only two who have chance to win. Cruz or Trump. Any of the others and its hello President Clinton.

So, you are using the “electability” standard for our vote?

Why not Jeb(!) or Christie?

Currently, the 2 you chose (and I am a Cruz supporter) probably won’t make the cut.

I would hardly consider the idea of his being elected President as "getting rid of him".

We have some of the very best local talk radio in the country in Southeastern Wisconsin, and the area and the legislature has grown increasingly conservative as a result. Wisconsin is full of young, dynamic conservative political rising stars. Walker has blazed the path for them.

The Dem bench, by contrast, is pitiably thin in Wisconsin. That being said, nothing lasts forever. It will no doubt swing leftward again, which is why I'm glad so much has been accomplished during Walker's tenure....it will be difficult to undo.

I do agree with you that WI will move left again.

There are other candidates who can do the job. What is it about Ted Cruz for example that Walker thinks is unsuitable for the presidency or that he can do better? The field is crowded. Why did Walker decide that he is the only one to do the job?

Do you think that he could be re-elected in WI? If so, why would we want to risk losing what we have gained? Who did you have in mind that you think could win the state for conservatives?

At this point I believe it is vital that we have as many conservatives as governors as possible. The answers may lie with the states. Would it better serve us to have Walker in WI and Cruz leading the country? Or would Kleefisch be able to win an election? Would she be a good governor?

Do you think that aside from running for senate again against Johnson that Russ Feingold may throw his hat in the governor’s ring? If so, which conservative do you think could beat him?

Lots of question I know but as a Wisconsonite these are questions I have asked myself. Our state still has a very long way to go. Walker and our right-leaning legislature could be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I don’t understand why someone from WI would not want to capitalize on this opportunity. It’s a large presidential field.

I guess I would not have a problem in theory with a candidate who is not a politician, but realistically, it would take a very special person to succeed in the Presidency without at least some political experience.

From what I have heard, Rebecca Kleefisch has many of the same political strengths as does Walker.

My gut sense is that Walker Derangement Syndrome would transfer to her directly - the Dems just can't help themselves. In my opinion, it would improve her chances of succeeding. Other ones to watch over the next few years: Duey Stroebel, Paul Farrow, Kapinga and Kooyenga, and possibly Jesse Rodriguez.

I don't believe Feingold would run for Gov - why would he want to work that hard? It's more likely it will be Chris Abele, and he would give our party a run for its money.

I am a big Ted Cruz fan, and I could make the same case for needing him to stay in the Senate as you do for Walker needing to stay in the Governorship. I would fully support him if he gets the nomination, but I think that outside of conservative circles, he's been caricatured to the point that he could have difficulty in the general...I hope I am wrong about that. I also think that is one of Walker's strengths. A lot of people who normally do not vote Republican have supported him, both in Milw Co. and statewide. That's an imperative for the 2016 candidate.

As you said, it's a large field, and way too early to do more than speculate.

He's SOLD OUT to the "ESTABLISHMENT REPUBLICANS" !
You can NOT trust him !

Check out TED CRUZ, because he's the REAL Conservative, and the SMARTEST DEBATER in the bunch.

Cruz is receiving the same treatment Sarah Palin received. Except Cruz is much better in handling the media. But his chances of winning in the 2016 general are poor in my humble opinion. There just are’nt enough strong conservatives left in the nation’s voter pool to go against how he will be portrayed by the media after nomination. His best chance to become POTUS will be if he becomes a sitting VP and the country gets to know the real Ted Cruz.

It is easier to move from eating worms to a democrat socialist winning the Presidency. History says it happened in 2008 and 2012.

He has been running for office so much as Governor his campaigns has been at a national level of sorts, so one has to wonder what he owes the establishment for their support.

Thanks for your input!

“I am a big Ted Cruz fan, and I could make the same case for needing him to stay in the Senate as you do for Walker needing to stay in the Governorship. “

I think Cruz is hog tied in the Senate. The Congress is so corrupt and the good guys so out numbered I’m afraid there is little the conservatives can do there. I think his talent is wasted in the Senate. The repubs seem to hate conservatives more than the dems.

I could see him as the head of the DOJ or on the Supreme Court. However I do not believe that Walker would nominate him for either those positions and while the Congress trips over themselves to confirm Obama’s appointments I believe they hate Cruz enough to vote against him.

I DISAGREE.
That's being "SOLD" by the LAME STREAM MEDIA and the "ESTABLISHMENT REPUBLICANS". But I'm NOT BUYING their LIES, and neither should you.

The BASE is EXTREMELY ANGRY at both of those groups because of their SPIN.
So, ... our ONLY CHOICE is to go FULL SPEED, and HARD CORE CONSERVATIVE.
If the LAME STREAM MEDIA and the "ESTABLISHMENT REPUBLICANS" aren't screaming their lungs out against us,
then we're NOT DOING what it takes TO WIN !
Read Ann's most recent book, chapter 16.
The Conservatives ARE the BASE.
And the Base IS Caucasian.

Now you can try to deny that FACT all you want, but FACTS are FACTS !
No one wants to make it about "Race", but the GOP has angered their base,
and the base is tired of being LIED TO.

You can be scared of "Race Baiting" if you want, but it's time we RAILROADED the wimps, and got back to FACTS !

Like Ann said in her book,

IF you have time listen to this 37 minute 30 second radio program Here's the most recent examples of that strategy LOSING!
Take a good long look at where "Establishment Republicans" ALWAYS take us.

The "Establishment Republicans" can GO TO HELL !

Dunno, but he was an enthusiastic Mitt supporter in 2012. Check out photos of him on the campaign trail with Willard sometime. They're sickening.
