A longtime Scott Walker adviser anonymously tells National Journal that the now officially announced presidential contenders strategy will be to first lock up conservatives and then move to a more moderate position later on in the campaign.
You start in Iowa and lock up conservatives, because if you dont do that, none of the rest matters, Walkers adviser reportedly told journalist Tim Alberta. Its much easier to move from being a conservative to being a middle-of-the-road moderate later on.
In Iowa, you see the beginnings of that, he added. Hes capturing that conservative wing first and foremost, and then moving from Iowa to the other states and bringing other voters into the fold.
The idea, according to the adviser, is that Walkers strategy on the national playing field will be the same as what has worked in Wisconsin: he will present himself as a blue-collar, down to earth kind of guy who didnt graduate from college, who appeals to everyone and, ultimately, unites all stripes of the Republican Party.
By way of example, the National Journal points to this ad put out by Walkers re-election campaign last fall during his battle with Democrat Mary Burke....

If he’s also hiring McConnell’s people that pretty much confirms that my initial gut instincts about this guy were right.
He’s establishment.
So Dr. Berry, Breitbart and National Journal are all full of it?
Iowa and New Hampshire are conservative states! LOLOLOLOLOL
Pretty much. Now answer my question.
Your idea would not work because early wins start the “inevitable” argument. And many conservative states vote later now. What we need is a primary day that is the same nationwide. It is no longer necessary to stagger the vote. That started back when the candidates had to travel by horse and buggy. Now it just robs some states of an equal say.
Why did Sarah Palin's staff leak like a two-dollar boat?
They have a mole.
Do you have the idea somehow that I am under your command in some form or fashion? If so, disabuse yourself of it right now, Ma’am.
The Romney playbook that didn’t bring out the Conservatives.
Romney got less Repubs to vote for him than Rino McCain.
Can’t fool us again, when we didn’t like a Flip Flopper the
last time.
We don’t learn on the Conservative side there should be a conservative convention to select a true conservative, spliting the 70% conservative vote means another GOP 30% guy winning the primaries, and having more money than any one conservative.
I am sorry, what is the use of having 5 good conservatives if they can’t get near the 30% mark Romney got in most primaries and he won time after time with a minority of GOP voters.
We never learn.
“Two-dollar boat.” Hahahaha!
Walker was a goo governor. He has no foriegn skills. He has no military philosy and he doesn’t know a soul in Washington. That is not a plus. That is a negative. He seems like a good man and I will vote for him if he is the nominee but Trump has just about wrapped it up.
All political advisors think this way. All of them.
As far as Walker the politician goes, he hasn't been governing in red state. Wisconsin is to the left of the country as a whole and they seem to like him OK.

It’s much easier to move from engineering to business.
It’s much easier to move from fresh to stale.
It’s much easier to move from clean to dirty.
It’s much easier to move from hot to ambient.
It’s much easier to move from painted to “needs paint.”
It’s much easier to move from thin to fat.
It’s much easier to move from low entropy to high entropy.

Yeah, we "lefties" here in Wisconsin like him OK
If he doesn't, we can only assume one of two things: either (1) he doesn't care that his integrity has been smeared or (2) he agrees
Probably a good bet. This doesn’t surprise those paying attention. Political expediency at its finest.
Thought so.
Oooohhhh, you scorched me!

If this guy is for amnesty, and a closet Rino like Justice Roberts I don’t want him.
Lets pick someone Conservative. I like Cruz but even he wants 5x the number of H1b visas so who can we get that is better? Maybe we have to hope Cruz sees the light.
I know this comes as a shock to the ideological purists, but conservatives do not constitute a majority of voters, so in order to win you have to offer something that moderates and independents will find attractive enough to vote for. If you can’t get elected, it really doesn’t matter much what your plans and ideas are, because you won’t be able to put them in effect. So it’s really pretty simple.
Now, anyone who thinks Scott Walker is going to abandon his conservative principles either hasn’t been paying attention or will have a good education coming. He will make his appeal by picking his battles and emphasizing some issues while deemphasizing others. It’s a subtle but effective way of gaining the support of those who don’t agree with a candidate on ideological terms but will vote for him as the best person to solve the problems they consider most important.
