With over a dozen hopefuls for the republican nomination in the 2016 presidential election, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is the least likely to pull support from the GOP because of his overly conservative politics.
A telephone poll conducted by ORC International in April that surveyed 435 republicans found only 7 percent of potential voters in favor of Cruzsixth place on the list of republican hopefuls led by Jeb Bush with 17 percent.
Deporting immigrants, denying climate change, fighting gun-control and opposing gay marriage are issues that may all seem consistent with republican agendas, but when they are being pushed by an uncompromising, right-winger like Cruz, they become issues of division rather than unity.
If a filibuster reading of Green Eggs and Ham as an attempt to stop the Affordable Care Act wasnt example enough of Cruzs stubborn time wasting, his leadership of a charge to shut down the government over immigration last year cements it further.
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) commented on Cruzs rally for a shutdown and demonstrates the GOPs frustration with Cruzs antics.
You should have an end goal in sight if youre going to do these types of things, and I dont see an end goal other than just irritating a lot of people, Hatch said, according to the Boston Globe in March.
Cruz is recently better known for his denial of climate change, which coincides with his constitutionalist crusade for fewer restrictions on the energy sector including oil and coal industries, according to the Washington Post in March.
While many republicans are in favor of smaller government and reduced restrictions on the private sector, the sections of the party that Cruz needs to win over liberal and moderate republicans do not favor his environmental ideology.
A survey released late last year by Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies found liberal republicans to be 71 percent and moderate republicans 74 percent in favor of regulations on carbon emissions. Additionally, the two groups averaged 65 percent believing that climate change is actually happening, which Cruz holds firmly is a ploy for government control.
Cruz has little chance at being Commander in Chief of anything. His single-minded approach to many of the countrys most pressing issues has locked him out of gaining the republican nomination much less, the approval of the people.
I find the Hatchling to be very irritating.
You just described the entire MSM.
I stand with Ted.
This littler pisher can go pound sand

Metrofaggie dictates to the rest of us. Yeah, right.
;^)
For shame!
Because of climate change mumbo jumbo ?
Proves Ted Cruz is made of the RIGHT STUFF
A Whitey OWS protestor Climate change Thug,.... Yeah, I said it... A punk thug.
I used to write for that paper with a pen name and submitting anonymously.
People used to get very angry about my columns.
I once did one about why Prop 22 is awesome and gay marriage is stupid and had my professor, Clifton Snider, go nuts in my class WITH ME THERE about my column, though he never realized it was me that wrote it (again, pen name).
Fun times.
uh huh, I look the same upside down!
I have a beard!
Why has God forsaken me with alabaster skin?
Senator Hatch is increasingly worthless, so quoting him means nothing.
If the government had shut down over Obama’s executive amnesty then it would have been Obama and the Democrats shutting it down, nit Cruz and the GOP.
Where does he get the idea that Cruz would be a big deportation guy? I wish he would, but I don’t get that sense from him.
And I doubt that Cruz denies climate change - everybody knows that the climate changes - he’s probabaly just guilty of denying that it’s man-made, and of not supporting ruinous policies that won’t do much to alter temp changes anyway.
And to say that opposing more gun control hurts Criz is nonsense. This is one of the few areas where conservatism hasn’t been badly beaten in the culture war.

A ten point margin at this point is almost impossible to overcome. < /eyeroll>
But if I had a nickel for everyone who's said, "I like Ted, but I don't think that he can win..."
I think this writer fell off a truck with turnips. Our country is divided and will remain divided. The life styles, religious and political beliefs of the coastal states and mid America are so different that they cannot coexist with each other.
I have arrived at a very different conclusion:
Senator Cruz has every chance of becoming our next Commander in Chief. His single-minded approach to many of the countrys most pressing issues has locked him into gaining the Republican nomination and the approval of the American people.
