First he had the Koch endorsement. Then he didn't. Why? A Glenn Beck interview where Walker moved wackier than Cruz.
According to a number of well-respected journalists, the Koch brothers are putting their heft and muscle behind Scott Walker for president. Or maybe not. It depends on whom you ask.
First, lets acknowledge once again that the Great Whitebread Hope from Wisconsin seems to have everyone in the political establishment mesmerized by his alleged strategic and tactical brilliance. Sure, he makes epic gaffes over and over again, but that cannot take anything away from the fact that he barely won a recall election and two swing-state elections in years in which Republicans ran the table. Why this is considered political genius remains a question for the ages. However, there can be no doubt that much of the Republican base loves him and much of the Democratic commentariat sees him as a very serious threat.
So when the news hit that David Koch had told a gathering at a Manhattan fundraiser that the nominee should be Scott Walker, it was as if there was nothing left to talk about. The deciders had decided.
But then something kind of funny happened. Walkers recently terminated spokesperson sent out a series of notable tweets...

Does anyone read saloon for opinion on conservative politics?
Boy salon write some real oddball stuff.
I’m not sure why anyone would read them.
what specifically has Cruz said that is “wacky?”
I’ve heard a lot from him recently and cannot recall anything even remotely ‘wacky’
just curious (what Salon thinks is “wacky” — I realize its Salon, which is rather like reading the Communist Party Daily)
At first I thought it was going to be a serious article; then I saw it was from Salon. GIMME A BREAK.
WT# does Salon care who the republican nominee is? national review doesn’t give a dam who wins on the other side.
an interesting question.
on the D side, the leading candidates for that nomination are mostly all very similar in policies (Hillary, the wacky “leftist” substitute for Hillary some people are pushing, even Biden has mostly similar politics...his most significant difference being he occasionally says something truthful)
on the R side... there are significant differences in policies between, say, Bush or Chistie.......on the left....and Cruz or (to some degree maybe Rubio and maybe the governor of Wisconsin?) on the other hand.
SO, which D gets the nomination is probably not too important policy=wise. However, which R gets the nomination could really make a difference.
IMHO
I would hope that the Koch Brothers know better than to base everything on one minor interview. It’s not like Scott Walker sat there advocating a return to Monarchy or a Parlimentary system. Let’s put it this way. Walker has not done like Ben Carson, in giving back to back lousy interviews with unrequested harebrained remarks thrown in.
good analysis. I also think Salon is trying to make sure nobody who really represents our beliefs, like Cruz, gets the nomination
Racist pricks.
You think Cruz hasn’t said anything slightly conservative?
The Koch brothers are ultra lefty. What would they know about conservstism?
Salon says Walker wackier then Cruz.
This is Series.
“According to a number of well-respected journalists,”
Yeah, it’s Salon and BS crapola. Well respected JournrHAHAHAHAHROFL. Sorry, I cant help it..
Walker got 53% of the vote, an amount that exceeds both of Obama's victory margins in '08 (52.9%) and '12 (51%).
When have we ever heard that Obama "barely won" in either year?
Guy?
The Kochs are libertarian, not conservative.
Im basically a libertarian, and Im a conservative on economic matters, and Im a social liberal, Koch said, who acknowledged that his beliefs about same-sex marriage and abortion conflict with the conservative beliefs held by many of the candidates propped up by the checks cut by him and his brother. Thats their problem. I do have those views. What I want these candidates to do is to support a balanced budget.
