Deporters-In-Chief: GOP Will Lose the 2016 Election
The Huffington Post's The Blog ^ | March 21, 2015 | Fernando Espuelas, Univision America Host

Sure, Republicans are playing to their base by calling for mass deportations. The years-long campaign to convince a segment of Americans that undocumented immigrants are the biggest threat to the country has had its intended effect. Witness the spectacular GOP victory in the midterms, where about one-third of the electorate voted and Republicans won a majority to sweep Congress and statehouses across the country.

So no surprise that almost four months into the Republican takeover of Congress, more time has been spent on immigration -- specifically, trying to reverse President Obama's executive actions shielding 5 million immigrants from deportation -- than almost anything else.

Once your party's platform is nothing more than a projection of atavistic fears, you can't suddenly turn it off.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill fiasco, with its non sequitur attempt to abolish Obama's immigration executive actions, was yet another black eye on the Party of Lincoln. It showed its obsessional focus on the narrative that only the GOP can "take the country back," as those famous anti-Obama posters proclaimed in the 2010 midterms.

And take it back to where? Well, that's not at all clear, as Republicans have yet to propose a positive agenda for America....

The great hordes of Hispanic voters didn't do a whole lot for democrats last November....

Actually the electoral power of Hispanics is largely a myth, although they are the largest minority group in the nation now, they are concentrated in only a few urban areas and South Western states, also they don't vote one way or another en masse like Blacks (a South Florida Hispanic voter of Cuban decent does not have a whole lot in common with a Texas Hispanic of Mexican descent or a California Hispanic from El Salvador. In fact the entire concept of the "Hispanic" voter is largely a fiction created by democrats, as many so-called Hispanics don't even consider themselves Hispanic.

>Wouldn't it be a gas if all of these "new Americans" decide to vote Conservative? 😝 Funny you should say that. Now I know all the negative nancy naysayers are saying Hspanics will always vote Democrat because they "have" to or their benefits will be cut off or they will be deported but I have to tell you - I've spoken to more than a few conservative Hispanic families and they do not respect or like the "new" "progressive" Democrats who have no respect for other people, religion, or other people's property (and hard work to get it). There is a day if reckoning coming and zi have a felling they are going to be a big part of it.

I could not care less if every gop-e RINO traitor lost to a Tea Party Conservative Patriot.

And this, in a nutshell reflects the major obstacle we have to overcome:
"Republicans envision an America in which basic federal investments -- in education, infrastructure, science research, health and support for the elderly and indigent -- are no longer priorities"

IIRC, not one of these is enumerated in the Constitution as a responsibility of the fedgov. Until assertions like that are summarily shrugged off by the public, we are, basically, screwed.

What I want to know is - why do we have to be subjected to so many of the Huffington Post garbage articles.

Really?

You enjoy subjecting this website with all that garbage?

I guess I misjudged you.

How do you mean enjoy? I scour the Internet for things people here might want to know about or be aware of. Some of those are going to come from places like Huffington, PoliticusUSA, The Nation, The Atlanta Black Star, Salon or Slate. If the source bothers you, skip them. I’ve never been told by the site owner yet that he’s unhappy with my threads. As of this minute I’ve posted 27,127 threads.

Okay, I’ll just take your advice and not bother to click on anything from Huffington Post.

They only lie, lie, lie; and I don’t think (at least for me) that’s its advantageous to read a bunch of lies. I consider what they say “poison”.

But, I get it; nobody cares what I think.

"But, I get it; nobody cares what I think."

I never said that, I just told you how I select articles. I was an intelligence analyst for many years. It's how I think.

I appreciate the posting of the opposing view. We have to be aware of what they’re up to and how they’re trying to shape opinion. Propaganda works.

I care how you think.

I was having a conversation about propaganda today. It’s EVERYWHERE. Right and Left.

We just have to discern the facts. And recognize the rest as the lies they are.

Oddly enough, I agree with you. I wouldn’t imagine Hispanics are much on traitors and real scum. You see the intent in their eyes.

Gee - thanks!

Well, I’ve become aware that a lot of newcomers are trying to make FR become like Twitter/Facebook. I’m determined to stop that trend.

FR has always been about discussing things; not always agreeing, but being able to listen and maybe still not be able to agree.

These new groups are all about intimidation, rudeness, slander, etc. FR has never been about that - even though once in a great while somebody would have an issue - but lately this has become just outrageous behavior.

While I was ready to leave FR - I decided I was not going to allow these new people to chase me away. I refuse to let them take over.

So, thank you combat_boots for confirming a decision I made about a week ago. I really appreciate your caring.

Sure, Republicans are playing to their base by calling for mass deportations.

Name names or consider yourself called a LIAR, Fernando Espuelas

You are correct - no politician has called for mass deportations - it would be impossible to miss the 20 million news blasts about it.

On the flip side, plenty of folks here doing that and claiming they won't vote for anyone who doesn't promise same.

Since it ain't gonna happen as they demand, we are pretty much screwed ...

In all honesty I haven't seen anyone here say that. But I haven't read every post, either.

Everyone seems to understand that the problem will solve itself when the incentives are removed.

Speaking only for myself, I will not vote for anyone who will not take border security and the sanctity of citizenship seriously.

I remember a similar attack: During the 2000 election.

We had a group of McCain people who acted very similarly to the people attacking now. The way we stopped it (partially) was to just ignore them. Their constant tactic was to bait people with snarky comments.

I’ve begun to wonder if it’s really the same gang; with new screen names.

They know that a huge group of us here on FR are supporting Ted Cruz; and I recall McCain was the person who called Ted a “whackobird”. The more I thought about that, I started wondering if the same McCain people are again just continuing to “stir the pot”, so to speak.

I remember one poster getting hyper-upset when I mentioned that “I knew how to play the game”.

My advice; just ignore the snarky people.

And take it back to where?

How about back to a place in which the Mexicans would be learning English rather than watching Univision and Telemundo, Fernando.
