Because the right never trusted him, Mitt Romney spent the entire 2012 presidential primary burnishing his conservative credentials, and spent much of the general election on unsure footing, never confident that the Republican base would be comfortable with his gestures to the broader electorate.
If the next Republican nominee is going to find balance, it won't be as an establishment guy putting on a Goldwater impression. The question is whether hell be a party activist or another patrician who also happens to be comfortable in his own skin.
Two weeks ago, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush weighed in for the latter approach. Its time, he argued, for a Republican candidateperhaps Jeb himselfto alter the formula that has blown up his party two presidential elections running.
"I kinda know how a Republican can win, whether it's me or somebody else, he said, and it has to be much more uplifting, much more positive, much more wiling to 'lose the primary to win the general' without violating your principles."
For all the reasons Romney failed, Bush's theory benefits from the sheen of plausibilityand Bush himself seems ready to test it. On Tuesday, he announced that he'll create an exploratory committee, ahead of an official bid for the presidency. But for one key reason, it wont work for him this cycle, and that reason is immigration....

Amen!
Why should I?
You made the claim.
Enlighten all of us.
The threat posed by the evil regime is obvious to anyone. As Jim Robinson has stated, hussein and his henchmen have enacted a scorched earth policy. His initial plans to create a nationwide ebola pandemic have been thwarted -- at least for the moment. So he and the regime have moved to the next plan -- destruction of the domestic energy industry. Profits are sliding at XOM and the smaller companies are in danger of failing.
Bush has no “candidacy”. Tea party will roll this fat faced cross eyed amnesty loving POC like toilet paper. “Read my lips— no new taxes” and “Saddam has WMD”— “let’s lose $1.5 trillion and 4800 lives and 38,000 wounded to prove it so Iraq will be for ever a good place” NO SIR. No more bushes.
Barely a year ago Jeb gave Hillary Clinton an award for her public service. Does he think we have all forgotten that? The man is politically tone deaf.
Yes I agree that Obama is purposefully destroying the U.S. domestic energy industry (and the economy of Texas) and Saudi Arabia(Islam ) is teamed with Obama to carry out this evil plan.
Also Obama’s massive borrowing of trillions of dollars$ will further bankrupt the USA economy. Obama racked up more debt than all the other previous presidents combined.
I concur!
Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and North Dakota are being targeted by hussein and his criminal cohorts. With his OPEC allies, the aim is to establish a caliphate in America. The first step is to wreck the economy of the oil producing states. Thereafter, since those states are the most Conservative, he'll have a clear path through the complaisant liberal states.
The threat is abundantly clear. President Ted Cruz will have a gargantuan task ahead to undo hussein's schemes but our Senator from Texas has the will and the means to restore the Republic.
Has Jebbie looked down upon the peons yet to inform us just what lofty principles he pretends to be upholding? He's certainly off to one of the most arrogant, snobby and pretentious beginnings of any would be candidate in recent memory.
Romneys.
I think what he’s trying to say is that it’s his turn.
Jeb did it all by himself.
Goldwater’s corpse would probably do more for the Republic than the field of crap available under the guise of “politician” these days...
i think he will do everything in his extra ordinary power to create as much chaos as he can to declare martial law and suspend the election. Race riots over police shootings, etc.
Like this?
Wait! That is not a Photo-Shop!
“Jeb Bushs problem is Jeb Bush.”
Indeed. If the Jeb’ster is to have a shot at winning the GOP primary he should learn from what Romney did not do. Romney!s fatal mistake was not dealing with Romney Care up front from the get-go. He should have stated that Romney Care was a failure and a mistake and he had learned from this mistake and thereby was against Obama Care and would do everything in his power to Rescind it. Jeb needs to do something similar with Common Core and Amnesty. Otherwise, he’s DOA with Conservatives without which he has no chance of winning the GOP ticket IMO....
No need to get snarky. I like the Cruz, but he is a squish on immigration. He supports legalizing those illegals already here and expanding guest worker visas for skilled workers.
This district judge wrote a clear and very simple decision that will be very hard to overturn.
yes and the media keeps inciting race riots to help Obama in this plan
