When you take a stand on principle in the unprincipled world of Washington, D.C., youre sure to upset a lot of people, as U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz found out Saturday when he forced a vote on the constitutionality of President Obamas overreaching executive order on immigration.
In a move that pitted Cruz in a head-to-head matchup with outgoing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, the Texas senator prevailed in getting a point-of-order vote on whether Obamas action was constitutional, before the Senate passed a massive $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill.
Cruz would lose that vote overwhelmingly 22 to 74 with a majority of his fellow Republicans voting against it. But he made a point conservatives are going to remember.
Before securing the vote, Cruz wrote on his Facebook page:
Harry Reids last act as majority leader is to, once again, act as an enabler for President Obama, by blocking this vote on the presidents amnesty. He is going to an embarrassing length to tie up the floor to obstruct debate and a vote on this issue because he knows amnesty is unpopular with the American people, and he doesnt want the Democrats on the record as supporting it.
And even though he succeeded in forcing the vote, Cruz made it clear he was not looking to shut down the government.
We are only seeking a vote, he wrote. As soon as the majority leader allows a vote on a measure to stop President Obamas amnesty, we can and should move forward on this bill to fund the government.
The Senate was forced to work late into the night because of Cruzs procedural move, and drew criticism from some Republicans....

I had been following this (here on FR of course). I wasn’t shocked when the morning news (keep Portland weird & stupid) didn’t mention that part of it.
Run Ted run... once again he has shown that he is a leader, unlike that POS Dirty Harry. Reid has also proved once again, that he is a cover for this administrations illegal and destructive acts that are damaging the country and the people.
Is there a list available yet?
This tells you enough about the spinelessness of some GOP. They aren’t interested in limiting the power of the executive or any part of government they just want to be the ones wielding it. ->

Let us be patient and see if Cruz keeps this up once he is the majority.
I have been burned too many times before. This could just be cold, calculated, political posturing to get what he wants: attention and recognition.
Crap, I really am becoming totally cynical . . .
This shows the traitors and the loyalists, who they are.
If the Lord tarries, and if the Lord God sees to allow America ONE MORE CHANCE, Senator Cruz will be the next President of the United States.
SO a majority of republicans think amnesty is constitutional. I want the list
Senator Cruz: my choice for POTUS in 2016. I will vote for him. How ‘bout you?
RINOs are killing this nation, afraid to do what they were elected to do.
Got a list of the senators who voted with Ted?
Cruz probably already knows that congress, and especially the GOP-e faction, has the highest concentration of bus drivers in the metropolitan DC area.
With that said, I would like to see Cruz keep being a persistent thorn in their asses, and not let up. Better yet, double down and make the GOP-e squirm under the pressure. Force their hand, make them lash out, and then shut them down.
Searched and couldn’t find one.
I don’t have the list of those that voted for it but these are the Senators that voted with Cruz and I see at least a couple that I know only did it because they are in deep red states and will be facing re-election but at least they did the right thing even if they didn’t necessarily like it.
The only Republicans voting with Cruz were Sens. Roy Blunt (Mo.), John Boozman (Ark.), Richard Burr (N.C.), Mike Crapo (Idaho), Deb Fischer (Neb.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), John Hoeven (N.D.), Johnny Isakson (Ga.), Mike Johanns (Neb.), Mike Lee (Utah), Jerry Moran (Kan.), Rand Paul (Ky.), Rob Portman (Ohio), James Risch (Idaho), Pat Roberts (Kan.), Marco Rubio (Fla.), Tim Scott (S.C.), Jeff Sessions (Ala.), Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), Jon Thune (S.D.) and David Vitter (La.).

His Mission is his motive, and the only power he seeks is that necessary to quash the marxists and RINO squishes, as he calls them.
Cruz accomplished much in getting these votes on the record. He gave us a list. And come 2016, he’s expects us to check it twice and find out who’s naughty and nice....
He just wants to do it in accordance with the Constitution.
And, he's going to get called on it in the primaries/debates.
There'll be a lot of deflated balloons then.
