HONOLULU (AP) -- In a stunning defeat for an incumbent, Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie was unseated by a fellow Democrat in Saturday's primary election, as voters chose state Sen. David Ige as their nominee in one of two marquee races that have divided the party.
Abercrombie had tried to hold onto his seat while disgruntled voters turned their allegiance to Ige, who promised to bring a less confrontational political style. Voters rewarded Ige with a decisive victory....

So Hawaii is like Kentucky, you can put whatever you want?
According to his website he’s also the “9/11 guy”, I’m guessing that’s his nickname for this election.
My apologies for calling him a bum, he was/(still is?) a working homeless. He lived/lives in a van down by the...ocean.
Yeah! What do we know about Ige? So many far leftist in HI -—Is he one?
I guess that you are referring to the Libertarian wing of the Republican Party who should move over to the Democrat side because Rand Paul and his followers are more in line with Obama and Hillary on foreign policy than they are with Republicans.
Ping.
Hawaii Gov. Abercrombie ousted by Ige in primary (Friend of Mr. Obamas parents)
Article and comments. Interesting question at # 17.
Thanks, Maggie.
Yes. I tire of the “if they aren’t a clone of my brain I am staying home” crowd. It’s almost like a form of narcissism.
For a Hawaiian politician of any party, that's practically Charlton Heston territory. I have some shooter pals in HI who are ecstatic that he trounced the 0%/'F'-rated gun-grabbing Abercrombie.
Abercrombie’s loss is on par with then-Gov. Frank Murkowski in the 2006 GOP primary, where he placed 3rd with a paltry 19%.
Right, I forgot Palin wasn’t his only foe.
Speaking of Alaska, ex-RINO Bill Walker is running for Alaska Governor as an “I”. He’s at 20% in a recent PPP poll, 2 points behind the rat, with Parnell at 37%.
Parnell will win again, though it sounds like the RINO will take votes from the likely Dem nominee, Byron Mallot.
ping to eligibility list...
This is a fabulous win if the new governor has some character is free from the tentacles of the Chicago commie mafia. Maybe Sheriff Arpaio will have some hope of finding out what is in the HI DOH vault! Well at least a smidgen of hope anyway...
Well, at least Democrats know how to get rid of an incumbent who is a 40-year career politician and is 76 years old. That’s something Republicans don’t have the balls to do.
Could that possibly have led to his defeat? Bad news for Obama? Hell no? Bad news for Letterman, whom Abercrombie resembles, perhaps.
Speaking of racism, (we were, weren't we?) the Japs are really good at it. Anyone who ever worked for a Jap company can tell you that...
"Who's your big-nosed smelly gaijin" friend, Mr. Wakamoto?"
Or better yet , the way they involuntarily wrinkle their noses when the white guys walk into the meeting. You see, the Japs think we round-eyes just smell awful.
Abercrombie is of course an easily recognizable idiot. Could that possibly have led to his defeat?
In a rat primary? I thought idiocy was attractive trait to them.
I don't see much resemblance between Ambercrombie and David Letterman, are you saying all Haoles look alike?! ;d
Well, yeah. But what I really meant is that they both look like someone from a prominent WVA family who might be kept locked in the room behind a Gulf Station for his own protection.
AberCommie can go back to selling shave ice.
James ‘Duke” Aiona was the lt. governor under Governor Lingle.
David Ige is a democrat
Mufi Hannemann is independent
The new governor with or without character will be bound by state law. Arpaio will not get any benefit from these or Novembers results. Which wouldn’t take affect until January, 2015.
Actually we took out Dick Lugar in Indiana who was a 40 year politician and 80 yrs old.
And we got “Obama Joe” Donnelly instead.
“Rasmussen” poll
Ige (D) 40%, Aiona (R) 39%, Hannemann (I) 14%
New interest in this race.
