So Cochran loses the Republican vote substantially, but wins with a Democrat turn-out effort. He won't be punished as Childers will lose to him in November. He will resign in mid-office and a younger "party man" like Reeves or Pickering will be selected to take his place.
The Barbour clan (except for Jeppie) have permanent stain on their names, but plenty of cash, so who cares?
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) needs to hear from the voter base and see the results in their fund raising.
Next time you get a fund raising letter from them, Mark your return slip "I will remember Mississippi! Not a penny from me this year!" and let them pay the postage to get the mailing back.
Wrong - see my vanity about Grimes beating McConnell in the polls.
The base is going to stay home in droves in November, and blacks and liberal Democrats sure as Hell aren't going to cross over for Thad, or for McConnell.
The GOP will NOT win the Senate this year. You heard it hear first.
Hope this goes viral. Maybe they don’t need our money after all the cash they funnel in from questionable sources but they still (as long as we can have near-honest elections) need our vote. Hopefully, McDaniel will challenge and win because he would be helping our chances of honest elections. Either way, any GOP envelopes from me go back with a single slip of paper:
Remember Mississippi!
Remember, he won by fraud. McDaniel files legal challenges tomorrow.
Ditto’s!
(1) Cochran must get 80% of the white vote to win, and white turn out must be at least average, or above.
(2) Many enraged Tea Party Conservatives are going to sit out this election.
(3) Childers, the Democrat, a white Congressman, is a card carrying moderate. He voted against ObamaCare. In 2010, Childers was endorsed by the NRA and “Right To Life.”
(4) Cochran dropped 5% in Rasmussen's last poll, taken just after the primary last week. Cochran leads Childers now by 12%. If anything, Conservatives are more angry at Cochran now, so those numbers are going to drop again.
Cochran may win, but it will be close ALL the way.
I agree.
I predicted the GOP would take back just 4 Democrat seats many months ago.
Plus, we now have two other Republican seats at risk.
In Georgia, where Nunn, the Democrat, leads Kingston, the Republican who is expected to win the primary.
And, I am getting close to predicting a loss by Cochran.
Please see details on Cochran in my Post #6.
They get all the money and support they need from Democrats. They don’t need my money and they are not going to get it.
What do you call the GOP without the conservative vote?
The Whigs
They won't win the Senate and may lose the House. A lot of us "teabaggers" may be going fishing on Election Day in November.
Childers and McDaniels can run a decent, honest campaign base on ideas of what's best for the US. That's the best outcome....these two candidates have the ability to move both parties forward.
If anyone but McDaniels gets that nomination, everyone who supported Cochran (including the RNC) is permanently tainted and through as a power broker.
This is huge.
