Impy, out of curiosity, what did you not like about Santorum?

He was my choice too, being a former Senator from my State. I’ve always thought him to be a pretty decent, straight-up guy.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Santorum. I didn’t like that he got his butt kicked in his last Senate race, that’s why I was highly skeptical of his entry, it was extremely hard to envision him winning after that. When our best candidate was a Senator that lost by 17 points, that’s a terrible crop of candidates.

He’s was a very good Senator.

His campaign was rather blah, but he became the ONLY choice after Herman Cain fizzled out amidst manufactured scandal and neophyte campaign mistakes and the decent compared to Romney/Newt/Paul “His Rickness” bombed out in the early contests (and Michelle Bachman never got off the ground).

After Gingrich (who I think is just as liberal as Romney and even less electable) got creamed in Florida and Santorum won the next batch of contests, he should have been rallied around, as it was crystal clear Gingrich was finished. But too many people continued to carry the idiot ball for ole Newt and even insisted that Santorum was a Romney plant to split the vote, pathetic. I believe he was the favorite here right until the end (aside from Palin, whom some believed could magically drafted long after candidate filing closed).

See, just rehashing the 2012 race makes me sick, which is why we must have fresh candidates. If it’s Romney and Jeb (this might his first run but he’s as fresh as Michael Moore’s underwear on laundry day) running and Santorum were again the only choice by default, I’d probably do what I did in 2006 and shut out political news.

GOPSTER: “If this is true, why not just run George Bush I again? Sad...”

Ha, I almost said that myself. Why not Bob Dole? He’s showing his age big time, the old fella. That makes him an appropriate foe for that decrepit hag, Hillary. “Wow she looks old even next to Bob Dole”!

Well problem #1 was he got booted out of office.
If you want a Democrat as POTUS (or a McCain/Jeb/Christie as a candidate) then putting someone up who couldn't get re-elected is the way about it.
(Dems are trying to knock off Scott Walker now)

Then he went to FNC as a paid talker which is a sure sign of not being serious.

Then as I recall he was a big government spender under GWB, one could argue that PA voters wanted that, but again he got booted out office so that's zero.

Lastly in his 2012 primary campaign his big issue was the birth control mandate. That was a sure way to obscurity.

If they knock off Scott Walker this year then the next in line would be Perry who at least is no failure.(I definitely would pick Perry over Jeb)

Rand Paul is a interesting guy to listen to and he made some great augments on the current Iraq mess last night on Hannity, but he has no record or accomplishments and that means its a free ticket to Jeb or Fatso, not that I want to support a ??? anyway, and Rand is a ????.
