President Barack Obama faced a stiff challenge from an unlikely opponent in the Democratic presidential primary in West Virginia on May 8. A federal inmate in Texas drew 42 percent of the Democratic vote in the Mountain State about 52,000 votes to Obamas 70,000. While the President squeaked by with a victory in West Virginia, he could lose an upcoming Democratic primary in Arkansas where he faces an opponent who polls show is running a competitive race.
Tennessee attorney John Wolfe, who is an official candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2012, is drawing a surprising amount of support among Arkansas voters in the states fourth congressional district.
A Hendrix College-Talk Business poll of Democrats from May 10 showed Wolfe drawing 38 percent support to Obamas 45 percent. 17 percent of fourth district Democratic voters remain undecided in that race. The poll sampled 418 likely Democratic voters and has a +/- 4.8 percent margin of error.
Talk Business notes that the poll was taken the day after President Obamas highly publicized interview with ABC in which he expressed support for gay marriage rights.
Wolfe told Weekly Standard that the momentum is good.
Wolfe predicted that the voters would move his way in the final days before the May 22 primary, despite his shoestring campaign budget. Theres not been a single TV ad. Theres not been a single radio ad, he said.
Wolfe is also on the ballot in Texas May 29 Democratic primary.
Should this guy beat him, this would be politically devastating to Obama.
Back in 1968, anti-war candidate Gene McCarthy challenged LBJ. The unexpected vote total he achieved in the New Hampshire primary and his strong polling in the upcoming Wisconsin primary led Johnson to withdraw from the race.
It is a open primary. The GOP should vote for Wolfe.
I think secrectly, alot of urban blacks are not going to vote for white candidates this election cycle. Could be painful to be a white democrat this election cycle ...
Wow, that would just be too funny. ROTFLMAO would just be for starters.
I will do my part!
Why is Wofle in prison? Not one article I’ve seen mentions that. It’s like Russia. We have a presidential candidate against the regime in prison. A quick search shows he a leftard
Wolfe won 40% of the vote in West Virginia.
The inmate, Keith Judd, is serving time at the Beaumont Federal Correctional Institution in Texas for making threats at the University of New Mexico in 1999.
I will do my part!
Me Too!
This could get interesting. Obama being primaried and losing.
Keith Judd, who is serving a 17.5-year prison sentence for extortion at the Federal Correctional Institution in Texarkana, Texas
Making threats may have been part of the extortion...
He won’t lose...
This is out in the Media now, and Obama will drop a few thou in to make sure his minions/Sheep get to the polls.
“It’s an Urban Black radio station. They were ‘pissed’ about ‘whitey’s hatered’ of Obama.”
I listen to Pacifica Radio (Whacko Nutjob Leftist Radio) while traveling in the Chicago area.
They really DO want to start a race war.
Big deal. He’s not going to get Arkansas’ electoral votes anyway (the Clinton’s home state has been “red” since 2000), so why would he (or the DNC) care?
You are a braver man than I.
This report is for the 4th district, what about the other districts? what are the stats for them?
Razorbacks, VOTE for Wolfe and let’s get rid of the Wookie and her bi-sexual, muslim, beard of a husband.
Yes, I smell a set-up.
Blame a meaningless primary loss on “racist crackers” and then use that to really fire-up your black vote.
