John Kasich for Newt's VP
Vanity | 1/19/2012 | BizHvyWt

I think John Kasich would be a great choice for the Newt's VP. The Governor or Ohio, an important swing state and someone that worked on balancing the budget with Newt in Congress.

This would also lay the groundwork for a conservative successor to 8 years of Newt. We could have 16 years of conservative leadership to undo all the damage the O did in the last 4 years.

Gov Susanna Martinez (R-NM) would be better.

Biz...

Was thinking the same thing this morning.

Assume we have FLA, if he carries OH w/ Kasich he will get PA, and MI IMHO.

Kasich is a bluw collar Catholic like Santorum that IMHO can reach to blue collar voters...

Disagree. Kasich IS a great guy, just as you say, but he just got his political ass handed to him on the union power issue, demonstrating that he probably cannot carry the state (or, more precisely, at least that he’s hardly some very popular “plus” for the ticket in Ohio).

I’m still going for Rubio.

Allen West already said he was available if asked. Could be a good catch of Florida delegates.

Marco Rubio is not a Natural Born Citizen.

Conservatives shouldn’t go down that road.

I think Jindal this cycle as Rubio is still cutting his teeth. Jindal/Rubio 2020 if all goes well in 2012 and then Rubio/next rising star in 2028. Its so easy:)

No Ohio needs Kasich right now and DC can’t have him.

Kasich screwed up on the SB5 business. His priorities were wrong and Ohioans let him know. His popularity has tanked since then. I had such high hopes for him too.

Good call, I hadn’t considered that.

I was already thinking West would be a prime pick for VP since:

1) He’s already offered
2) He’s ideologically compatible with Newt
3) Takes away from the racial narrative
4) He’s quite potent when he talks, but without the dominating personality Newt has
5) Good catch for Florida delegates as you mentioned

Could be a very potent team IMO. And sets up West to continue the legacy after Newt’s 8 years.

From the perspective of winning Ohio, I see your point. I would LOVE to see Allen West, also from an important state. Were Newt the nominee, winning the South is a given, but Florida is really not truly Southern. Too many northern transplants and senior citizens that dems are able to exploit every election cycle. Allen West could help deliver Florida. I’m assuming that Ohio can be won without Kasich on the ballot, because Kasich is going to support the republican nominee, regardless of who that is.

I agree with you. West would be awesome! I like DeMint, and others, but really think West is the best for going up against Bam-Bam and Bidey.

Wouldn’t the debate between West and Bidey be good tv?

Neither Jindal nor Rubio is a Natural Born Citizen.

When we consider how much damage was done by the Zero, because we did not follow the Constitution in this regard, we should make sure this country never nominates someone who is not a Natural Born Citizen again.

A Natural Born Citizen is someone born in this country to 2 citizen parents. And yes, McCain is not a Natural Born Citizen either. How many here wish McCain was not nominated nor allowed to run?

As a Louisianan, I don't want to give up Jindal to a national ticket just yet. Jindal has made education reform his top issue this term, and we sorely need that reform in this state.

I like Allen West better than Rubio ... a much more commanding presence, IMHO. I agree that we do need someone from Florida to help with winning that state. The republican nominee is going to win Louisiana, without any help from within our borders.

Much better than the Chenney Edwards debate.
