Gov Susanna Martinez (R-NM) would be better.

Biz...

Was thinking the same thing this morning.

Assume we have FLA, if he carries OH w/ Kasich he will get PA, and MI IMHO.

Kasich is a bluw collar Catholic like Santorum that IMHO can reach to blue collar voters...

Disagree. Kasich IS a great guy, just as you say, but he just got his political ass handed to him on the union power issue, demonstrating that he probably cannot carry the state (or, more precisely, at least that he’s hardly some very popular “plus” for the ticket in Ohio).

I’m still going for Rubio.

Allen West already said he was available if asked. Could be a good catch of Florida delegates.

No Ohio needs Kasich right now and DC can’t have him.

From the perspective of winning Ohio, I see your point. I would LOVE to see Allen West, also from an important state. Were Newt the nominee, winning the South is a given, but Florida is really not truly Southern. Too many northern transplants and senior citizens that dems are able to exploit every election cycle. Allen West could help deliver Florida. I’m assuming that Ohio can be won without Kasich on the ballot, because Kasich is going to support the republican nominee, regardless of who that is.

He is not very popular in his own state.

Much more important. Who will Newt choose for Attorney General? I am hoping for FRED THOMPSON.

While the idea of Kasich as VP has some merit, I think there are better choices.

We need Kasich as Gov of OH, and he should have just as much influence to win the state for Republicans as gov as he would as VP.

Ditto the Susana Martinez idea, although I like her better than Kasich. I hate the idea of giving up a fairly conservative gov in a fairly Liberal state (NM).

Not Palin, either. Too much perceived baggage, and I like her where she is.

I’m warming to the idea of Allen West, and he said he would do it.

While I like John Kasich,
He brings nothing to the table similar to Joe (the drunk)Biden. Another old white guy.
Marco Rubio would bring in a truck load of Latin voters.
Colonel Allen West would siphon off a bucket load of blacks.

Kasich has a 48% disapproval rate right now (39% approval) and 22% disapproval rate with his own party. He’s not getting drafted for anything this year.

I am in Ohio and can tell you that John Kasich, while a capable and hard working man, is TOXIC in Ohio. SB5 divided our state like nothing I have seen in my 19 years as an Ohioan. It absolutely killed republicans on the down ticket. Cincinnati City Clowncil is down to 1 republican after the election.
