“The good thing about Newt is that he does know the ropes. The bad thing about Newt is that he does know the ropes.”

New is brilliant but he’s a creature of Washington. Methinks he loves the game a little too much.

The other thing that impresses me is Cain’s willingness to debate someone so far behind him in the polls. A politician wouldn’t take the chance.

The mark of an individual who is self-confident, but not a narcissist.

A CEO who delegates projects to the most knowledgeable and prevent the crises of incompetence.

A leader who offers goals - as well as finding solutions to existing or potential problems.

Respect for other people, their circumstances and potential to succeed.

Lack of envy or jealousy or covetousness.

I think it was the debate format that made Herman defer to Newt. I saw it and it did kind of look weird but I am pretty sure it was Newt’s turn to answer first.

I wondered after I saw someone else post along these lines if that was the case....Newt's turn to go first...

Hmmm, I could have sworn I read that it was an open invitation....Oh well, I like this format much better than what’s previously transpired but, honestly, I’m sort of sick of the debates. It’s too early for me to so many. Wish they cut the number down.

It wasn’t a debate, it was a discussion designed to showcase the two candidates as a team. Herman wants Newt as his veep, that was his likely motive for participating. I would not call it gutsy at all, however, I do believe Cain has proven himself to be a very gutsy man in any case.

Herman wants Newt as his veep

They did look like a Presidential team as they waved to the audience after the debate. I would call them a well balanced ticket.

Go Cain/Gingrich 2012

“You are so right!!! Herman should have said “Oh, I’m sorry. It is your turn to go first.” Since he didn’t, his is not ready.....”

This was the attitude among Nixon aides after the TV debate against Kennedy. Who cares if our candidate is sweating? /s

Impressions count more than actual content.

Newt and Rubio. The Republicans will never get the black vote but Rubio could really help with the Spanish vote. Cain will be Sec of State. Give hell to the internationalists.

I wonder if Newt is wise enough to take a hard look at his pocketbook, a hard look at his results, and an even harder look at what he is facing with an opponent that he knows will be focusing on racism to win, and just throw in with Cain now.

After this debate, it was clear to me that Cain is signaling to Newt that he wants him on his ticket.

With Newt’s recent rise in the polls, I’m sure at this point he want’s to see some initial primary results before he does anything, and I don’t blame him for that. Despite his RINO tendencies in the past, I’m starting to wonder if he actually learned something while out of elected office after watching this debate.

I would be comfortable with a Cain/Gingrich or Gingrich/Cain ticket, but believe Cain is our best hope at the top.

If Newt really believes in man-made global warming, that is a big problem. The sun is a million times larger than the earth. In comparison, the earth is less than a speck. The sun is a ball of fire. The earth is a speck of rock. Since the earth is the size of a speck in comparison to the sun, what does that say about the size of a man? A man is many times less than a speck. And man influences the cycles of the sun? I DON’T THINK SO!!! And Newt is the most intelligent Republican candidate? We are in deep do-do.

Rubio would get the Cuban-American vote in Florida - but probably not the Hispanic votes nationally.

I agree.

Newt is brilliant but erratic. Cain brings maturity, focus and wisdom. I think the two together are more formidable then their individual parts. However I feel a whole lot better with Cain holding the reigns.

Cain has the leadership skills Newt lacks. Newt knows how to manage the DC political machine way better then Cain. Cain would keep Newt focused on Conservative principals, Newt would get things done.

Rubio has all ready said he will not do it.

Newt is too politically flighty for the top seat. He is brilliant but politically erratic. He a good doer, he is a lousy leader.

Newt lacks the core leadership principles and vision any good leader must have. Newt is really good at identifying solutions to existing problems, he really bad at seeing what the real problems are.

Do you want a leader or a manager? Cain leads, Newt manages. For the top slots you want leaders, not managers.

Also, cain ducked at least one question. I’m not sure he is ready yet.

You're funny.

Thank you! That was what I thought - they talked about something, and then asked the question that didn’t seem to make sense (and really didn’t relate to what they were talking about).

Cain had answers once the question was framed, and his answers didn’t always match Newts so it is clear he had knowledge on the issues.
