Things are tough all over these days, even in television. Cable competition is keen and the appetite for trash seems insatiable.
Such venerable cash cows as American Idol and Dancing with the Stars have slipped a bit. Even Glenn Beck no longer satisfies the appetite for red meat.
What TV needs is another sappy, sexy soap opera complete with messy marriages, lots of dirty, rotten lies and a cast of comic-strip characters. And, by golly, it has found one.
Its the fast filling-up field of candidates for the Republican presidential nomination, entry to which is as easy as crossing the Texas border. For pure entertainment, its a show that cant be beaten.
Some predicable performers are already warming up in the green room, including Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney and even Rick Santorum. (Rick who?) This is the retread brigade, guys who used to be somebody governors, senators or, in Gingrichs case, a former House speaker.
Those siren sisters of hard-right Republicanism Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann also appear ready to make the race, or at least the public debates. And some newcomers soon may jump in, notably Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
But promising as it is, this cast lacks star quality. It needs someone who elicits raves and rage, who brings out the best or preferably the worst in the American audience. Thats where Donald Trump comes in....

What’s outrageous is having an imbecile p-Resident who uses a teleprompter, has no BC, steals an SS# and bows before foreign kings.
Desperate?
Lol....you mean like last November?
The current Republican leadership’s plan of rolling over and dying because the libs asked them nicely isn’t working all that well.
How outrageous to inquire into adherence to the intended language of the Constitution! Indeed!
If Trump is the best we can do, we are in deep Sh*t...
Trump has done more in three weeks to expose the Marxist/Muslim usurper than anybody else in three years.
And that's all you need to know about the other Republicans being mentioned as possible candidates.
Just look at the author...John Farmer...a guy who basically spent the better part of 6 years telling New Jerseyans how lucky we were to have McGreevy and Corzine running the state.
Little johnny farmer... planting lies and harvesting sh!t. We are not desperate... but we do want to kick the crap out of the left.

I agree. It is a sad commentary on the so-called “leadership” in the Republican potentials.
Why spend $2 million dollars to hide a $10 dollar birth certificate?
*The siren sisters* = How utterly cavalier.

Trump is the crazy old uncle that tells it like he sees it. Hasn’t got a chance to be nominated but a really fun guy who scares the bejesus out of the RATs.
In the first place, the question is entirely legitimate. I for one want a straight answer. I just want Baraqqi to tell the truth for once.
In the second place, this ‘desperation’ mentioned is misplaced with 20 months still to go before Chairman Zero is consigned to the garbage can of history.
Oh, do you think I’ve “jumping on the Trump bandwagon” as you put it? Far from it. I see what he’s up to. Ross Perot 2.0 or Mitt Romney writ large. It’s a phenomenon, so I’m posting threads about it, just as I would if Ronald McDonald were flirting with a run for president and gaining in the polls.
