Sarah Palin may be a media phenom, but disgruntled New Hampshire Republican leaders are still waiting to learn when the top GOP contender will visit the key primary state.
Several groups have asked her to come, but shes playing it cool, said Diane Bitter, chairwoman of the Rye Republican Town Committee. Last year we were told that she wouldnt come, and recently people have gotten the same response.
The first state in the nation to hold a presidential primary, New Hampshire is already seeing GOP presidential hopefuls canvass the state. Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, U.S. Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty all have visited in recent months, and Mitt Romney who owns a vacation home in Wolfeboro is a frequent glad-hander and fund-raiser in the state.
Palin, meanwhile, has repeatedly ignored requests for appearances, according to town committee leaders.
A lot of people are surprised Palin hasnt made a visit or contact, said Manchester GOP chairman Cliff Hurst. Maybe shes getting enough press as it is.
If shes running for president, shes doing it in a different way, that we know, said Dennis Hogan, Nashua GOP chairman, adding, but different sometimes works.
As the Herald reported yesterday, the former Alaska governor has overshadowed Romney with a bestselling book, a hit reality show, and regular appearances on Fox News.
But analysts warn if Palin intends to skip Main Street meet-and-greets in favor of TV and Twitter, she may miss out on Granite State votes.
I get the impression that (Palin) is generally more interested in running a media-based campaign, rather than a grassroots campaign, said Jennifer Lucas, assistant professor of politics at St. Anselm College in Manchester. Here in New Hampshire, theres no evidence that works.
Boy, they’ve got the talking points down, don’t they? How many millions have you people spent on oppo research? How much of that money came from Gaza, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Syria?
My Dad was a vet too and he always watched the show. Werner, for whatever reason, preferred to talk about his film career. He told my husband and I many stories about Spencer Tracy and Vivien Leigh when he worked on “Ship of Fools.”
Werner was a kind man and very, very funny.
P.S.: I really enjoy your posts.
"you people"? "Oppo research"? Aren't you the guy who trolls Huckabee threads to post "oppo research"? My God!, the foolishness never ends. I will now stay out of SP threads so that you guys can worship in your religious caucus. I will hold my nose and vote for Sarah if she is the nominee. I hope if she isn't the nominee, and she decides to run as an independent, you will remember what you thought about Crist and Murkowski
What political positions should a candidate have in order to attract blue dogs and independents? See if you can answer the question this time instead of simply regurgitating left-wing talking points about Palin.

You, like the rest of the Palin-bots, don’t understand my argument.
It isn’t her positions — it is her perception to the general public (hint: most Americans don’t read FR). They think she is a nut-job and she hasn’t rehabilitated herself to those people.
And that ain’t gonna change any time soon. Certainly not in 2 years.

.
So then I guess that the majority of Costco shoppers are freepers?
Her book is selling so fast there that they can’t keep it on the shelf. I watched about 50 of them dissappear as I waited my turn to get to the stack.
.
No one was talking to you.
Record debt, double digit unemployment rate, and a stagnant economy... and here you are trying to convince people that a candidate's political positions have no relevance in an upcoming election.
They think she is a nut-job

Yes, you’re really well known for your quick witted replies...

Do you even know what a discussion forum is?

Some deserve replies, some do not.
Your response makes no sense at all.

This is clear-eyed analysis. It has nothing to do with my opinion of Mrs. Palin — which is very high. I think her work with whipping up the base has been outstanding and I want her to continue to fulfill that role.
There is no question she was a very large part of our tidal wave in the House and high-water mark in the Senate.
I think that is her best role and how she can do the most good. As a POTUS candidate she would be a disaster and would weaken the base she has done such a great job of strengthening.
Again, I am making no decisions nor value judgments — this is a political calculation.
Reagan had those qualities.
So does Palin, which is why there is so much effort to suppress her.
Exactly.
I guess I stumbled onto the DU corner of FR.
Thinking not permitted — it is all about emotion. Let’s all break into a rousing chorus of “Feelings.”
Palin is the frontrunner to become the GOP nominee, if you don’t like a conservative candidate being in that position then you need to do a better job of promoting that long shot guy of yours.

I don’t have an alternate candidate although there are some interesting folk in the new wave.
I am just saying Pain doesn’t and won’t sit well with middle America.
So sorry if that harshes your mellow. But she can’t win and will cause downstream problems if she does run.
You can do your LSD talk all you want, conservatives have a primary to win, and right now we are ahead, while you don’t even care about anyone particular, you only know that you want to stop the conservative from taking that primary.
