2012 poll shows Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin neck and neck
The Boston Herald ^ | August 14, 2010 | Hillary Chabot

Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney - believed by many political observers to be a clear GOP front-runner in the 2012 presidential race - is virtually in a dead heat with contender Sarah Palin, according to a new CNN poll.

The poll shows Romney only 3 percentage points in front of former Alaska Gov. Palin, within the margin of error.

“It’s a pretty open contest, and that’s interesting in and of itself,” said Suffolk University political professor John C. Berg. “It means the primary contest will be tighter.”

Only months from the unofficial start of the 2012 presidential campaign, Romney has shown strong fund-raising and was tapped as the front-runner at the Conservative Political Action Conference earlier this year.

But Berg said that the close poll figures could signal a tough fight between Republicans during the primary.

“There’s still the desire in both parties to try to get it locked up early . . . so they can focus on attacking the other party - but that’s a ways away,” Berg said.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll of 1,009 adults nationwide was conducted between Aug. 6 and Aug. 10.

And you always take the hook! LOL

You tried to impugn the character of a fellow Freeper, who is IIRC also a minister, by implying he attacks indiivuals called Mormons. He does no such thing, and he always addresses the ISM not the individuals. So yeah, I'm sensitive about that, cult worm. You're one of the more sleazy of your genre.

The good ol boys who run the Republican party better listen and listen good.

There is no way I am voting for Romneycare mitt.

It’s political suicide if he wins.

The reason there is a ground swell and tea party is because of Obamacare, and they are running Romney?

If it is Romney vs. Obama, we will absolutely know that the Republican hierarchy is in bed with the left to bring us into socialism.

Mitt Romney embarrassed himself in Iowa in 2008 when he accused the local radio hosts of taping him with hidden cameras.

He spent a tremendous amount of money on glossy brochures and automatic calls.

Jan Mickelson, WHO 1040 AM Des Moines morning host questioned him on his religious beliefs, and Mitt Romney bubbled over onto the griddle.

Afternoon host Steve Deace, the self-described Bible-thumping zealot, beat the war drums around Romney-in-the-boiling-pot for months.

Iowa Republicans nominated the Palin pick who is likely to be governor when the candidates come to woo the caucuses.

Regarding the photo comparison: do voters favor a millionaire who's got that Crisco-eating grin, or the mad-as-hell-and-not-going-to-take-it-any-more realist.

"I believe that Romney will put up a tough fight in the primary"

Did you see the video of him in manning the grill today? What a buffoon!! That alone will sink him.

You are really on a self righteous high horse tonight. What gives?

Anti-Mormon is a common phrase that describes the actions of those who actively oppose the Mormon religion. If an anti-Catholic had a problem being called that, what would you have him called? How about an Anti-Baptist? Anti-Methodist?

You are being as sensitive about this as a progressive being called a liberal.

Take a chill pill dude.

PS. I will vote for anyone but mitt.

Even Newt. Even Huck. Anyone who has a shred of republican credentials.

I voted for McCain and that hurt. But I won’t vote for Romney.

Romney is a follower of the wind,....(and another puppet yo-yo in the hands of the Mormon Organization).... he is a Machiavellian chameleon...(slimmey and slippery)... politician who found conservatism as a vehicle not a preference.

Plus the trail of wind that follows him will guarantee us a loss in the run for President. He is the Demorats choir boy and will sing whatever tune they give him to sing.

If that’s the poll in the pdf, and I guess it is, I agree with you...lol.

“22% of conservatives will vote for Obama or are leaning Obama?”

IMPOSSIBLE! CNN talked to liars or “school teachers”...LOL.

Boy do you got that right!... Romney's whole posture is like Bo's....it's a front and he is weak in the inner man. Put him up against Putin and Putin will tear him apart...or laugh not even taking the time to meet let alone engage him... Romney has no backbone to face the international thugs at all.

I fear you have now crossed over into the very meaning of the definition that you assumed it to mean and raged against. Go figure.

The term remains, and means against the religion, not people. I don't believe Colofornian is what you think I was saying. But I am quite certain after tonight that you are the very thing you do not want to be called.

I'm going to leave you alone now before you pop a blood vessel.

I’ll never vote for him. He has did nothing since his last run to gain any confidence with me. He’d have my support if he ran against John Kerry in 2012. I could live with that but not as President. I want someone I can trust not to give the left any margin of victory. Palin at the moment is the only one of the top tier that I trust in that regard. Huckabee has earn credibility with me though. I could also go for Gov Christie but I think he needs to stay where he is at.

Personally though I hope Sarah pulls it off and chews up Obama and spits him out like liberal piece of crap he is.
The libs would go nuts and that is fine. Let em scream, let them gnash their teeth. It is music to my ears.

I seem to remember that ridiculous charge. Maybe you posted about it. I recall that Romney had spent a lot of time in Iowa (like a year!) and was thought to have the premiere grassroots campaign. Then in swept Huckaboob and took Thompson out of the running.

Oh yes, you mean Branstandt or something similar. Right. Sarah endorsed him. Huckaboob endorsed his opponent, just like in SC where Sarah’s choice of Nikki Haley defeated Huck’s choice and Nikki will likely win her race in November! Same for Terry B. I hope.

LOL. You’re right about the photos and whether voters will “favor a millionaire who’s got that Crisco-eating grin, or the mad-as-hell-and-not-going-to-take-it-any-more realist” —— even though she’s movie start beautiful and a self made millionaire now herself. Sarah’s a conservative patriot.

Romney has fluctuating values. I can’t even consider his candidacy. He’s a democrat to me.

Me too. She has NO roots in DC, she's hostile to the old and current ways our government business is conducted in DC and she's no friend to the lame stream media!

Perfect! Sarah 2012. Don't settle for less!
