GOP wishy-washy on Mitt Romney support
The Boston Herald ^ | July 10, 2010 | Hillary Chabot

Posted on 07/10/2010 8:02:11 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney, who’s campaigned hard for Republicans across the country as he eyes a presidential run in 2012, earned high praise but couldn’t secure a solid endorsement from some GOP governors yesterday.

“I think he’s going to be one of several people that are going to be seriously considered for the nomination,” said Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, who was recently elected after Romney helped his campaign. “He’s an incredibly talented spokesman for the conservative cause.”

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist declined to comment on Romney’s 2012 chances yesterday, saying he’s too busy running his own state.

Crist is one of several rumored GOP challengers also eyeing a run for the White House in 2012, along with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

“It remains to be seen, simply because I don’t think all the potential challengers are a known quantity yet,” said South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds. “I think he’s a very strong contender in the future.”

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer also declined to officially back Romney, but called him “a very qualified candidate.”

“He certainly is well respected in the state of Arizona, and we’ll look and see what happens in that upcoming election,” Brewer said.

Romney hasn’t officially announced he’ll make a second try at the White House, instead saying he’s focused on the midterm elections in Congress. He said he’ll make a decision after Nov. 2.

While Republican governors may not be firmly behind Romney, Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, a Democrat, said Romney has strong support in his home state.

“He certainly seems to have some popularity in Tennessee - some of the key Republicans have been supporting him, and I suspect in the primary here he’ll end up doing well,” Bredesen said.

St. Palin gets her own magazine. Goes with her own talk show, reality show, her daughter's tv show about sluts that she stared in (how crazy of a mother to allow her daughter to do that) and can go on and on and on. Poor Romney had the dog on top of the car and gets blasted...palin has a bastard (or illegitimate child for you PC types) grandchild and gets praise.

I gave the reason why I will not support Mitt Romney for president.

You engaged in name calling.

I guess you don’t like to hear the truth about Mitt Romney, do you?

Wow, Romney supporters seem to trend toward a virulent sort of PDS.

Its not just Mittwitts. You’ll find plenty of ‘conservatives’ on FR who cry the same cry.

Nice list.

I don’t care if someone doesn’t support Sarah Palin, as long as they have solid reasons for not supporting her. Or, at least solid reasons for supporting someone else.

Romney gets bashed

...because he's not a Conservative. If it comes down to a choice between Obamacare and Romneycare, why even go to the polls?

Only a retard can look at the damage that RINOism, creeping socialism, federal government expansion, and the Goldman Sachs/Fed Reserve mafia's blackmailing of the American People and think that Conservatives and Tea Partiers are going to show up at the polls to vote in another Eastern establishment, bank bailouting, socialized medicine weilding RINO like Mitt.

Even against Obama, if Mitt runs, Obama wins and America loses.

It doesn’t matter to me, but DeMint is one of the WORST offenders of RINO endorsements. His fawning, glowering letter of endorsement for Romney in January 2007 (way early for endorsements, btw), is more like idol worship than objectivity. Back that up with a youtube video endorsement and its pretty stomach turning.

Huh? You've got to be kidding. Didn't he just declare himself an "Independent?" If such an unmitigated disaster were to actually win the nomination, he'd go the way of Gore and not even carry his home state.

And you managed to do that without name calling.

I wish others would learn from that simple example.

I can get behind DeMint, too.

Romney, I cannot.

Amen to that. And I'll say that in my list of preference Sarah would rank 3rd, behind DeMint , then Jindal.
