Palin's backing pays off
The Politico ^ | June 9, 2010 | Andy Barr

Some of Sarah Palin’s riskiest endorsements scored major victories Tuesday for the former Alaska governor, showing off her power in Republican primaries.

Palin had four primary endorsements in play – Carly Fiorina, Nikki Haley, Terry Branstad and Cecile Bledsoe – and three won or moved on to a runoff.

Palin served different roles for each candidate – sometimes spotlighting conservatives not well known to the national scene while at others validating conservative credentials to an unsure grassroots and even stepping in to deflect nasty attacks.

Perhaps Palin’s most powerful demonstration came in South Carolina, where her endorsement propelled a major swing in the polls for Haley’s primary campaign for governor and sustained the state representative through accusations of two separate affairs.

"Her decision to get - and stay - involved in the race here in South Carolina was a huge boon to our campaign, because it caused a lot of South Carolinians to take a second look at a rising in the polls but once-little known state legislator who was fighting to give them back their government,” Haley spokesman Tim Pearson said of Palin.

Palin was quick to defend Haley from blogger Will Folks, who claimed to have had an “inappropriate physical relationship” with Haley, writing on her Facebook page that Folks was trying to “make things up.”

Palin recorded a robocall for Haley in the closing days, urging South Carolinians to ignore the “made-up nonsense.”(continued)

Hey 2ndDivisionVet, you just made me create a new feature on my homepage! Congratulations of being the inaugural member of my special list!

You seem to fall prey to the fallacy of assumptions quite frequently.

You might want to add yourself to that list you have on your homepage.

Prove your point or be quiet.

It's perfectly clear that by saying Reagan was impure, and that he signed an abortion bill, that 2ndDivisionVet is saying that at some point that Ronald Reagan supported abortion.

As to "be quiet", HAR! Make me quiet, you puss!

Once again, you are taking your assumption, that 2ndDivisionVet meant that Ronald Reagan was impure to mean that is what 2ndDivisionVet meant. He never said that.

However, we are all human, and all impure, and all sinners.

Apparently, anything you assume, is the absolute truth.

That and your belief that you can read the hearts of men or women makes you a nutcase.

OMG! How can I live with myself now that “Yossarian”, a total stranger who I never have nor ever will meet, has called me a name on an anonymous conservative forum?

Woe is me!

What are you, 12?

Well, if you want to say that I'm a "nutcase" because I hold the ALMOST UNIVERSALLY HELD BY CONSERVATIVES BELIEF that Ronald Reagan was pure of heart, even in his mistakes, then go right ahead, you joke.

I view your insult as an indictment on yourself, and as saying nothing about myself.

Now, everyone else, pay attention: Look at how SoConPubbie is trying to tear down Ronald Reagan by implication and by half-truth. Look at what ugly perversions you have to go through to be ACTIVE supporters of these sketchy GOP candidates! (We may all have to become PASSIVE supporters of them, to knock communists like Boxer out.)

I am overjoyed with the results of last night’s primary results. Yes, Sarah Palin was instrumental, in many cases, critical to the success of a number of “Tea Party”, conservative, Republican candidates, but more positives for people looking to undo America from the grip of failure, incompetent, socialist, communist, facist POTUS Barack Hussein Obama occurred last evening in the state of Arkansas. SEIU, George Soros, MoveOn.org and labor unions were destroyed in the Democrat Senate primary election runoff. The winner, Ms. Blanche Lincoln will be destroyed by Congressman John Boozman in November, but Ms. Lincoln and her Democrat vote sent a message to the far left, including POTUS Obama, who would not show his failure soul and body in the great state of Arkansas in support of Ms. Lincoln. He instead either sent Bill Clinton, or Clinton went to AR on his own to undermine the failing, useless, anti-American Obama while plotting Obama’s resignation or coming impeachment, as part of the Clinton plan to have Hillary Clinton installed as POTUS after the buffoon Obama is forced out of office. Ah, yes, yes, the winds of change are blowing and....if the Democrat Party has brains whatsoever, it will now openly move to dump POTUS Obama either by his own resignation or impeachment. Failure to do so will cause the Democrat Party to be destroyed politically at the upcoming, mid-term elections in November, 2010. The American voter, Democrat, Republican, Independent or Conservative has Obama’s number. Obama, with each passing day gets more and more politically radioactive. No Democrat wants to appear with this empty suit that has nothing but disdain for America and “all” Americans. I hope the Democrat Party, through last night’s primary election results clearly sees the handwriting on the wall!!! Obama must be broomed out of office, now by his own political party.

"What is her scorecard on true conservatives?"

She's beating Obama by about 4-to-1. Why?

The hundreds of thousands that have read my threads and posts over the years know me, so you’re snide little list means less than nothing, and as to running to the teacher, go right ahead, it’s what I’d expect. As far as Carly vs. DeVore, I have no dog in that fight, I live in Mississippi, not California. Again, I worked for the president, and miss him like I miss my own father, so nothing you say will change my memories. His own son, Michael, thinks that Governor Palin is the new Ronald Reagan, but a few of her endorsements don’t pass your purity test and **poof** she’s a RINO! Let me guess, you’re a Huckabee fan, right?

Ronny Reagan was the lifeguard at the swimming hole in Dixon, Illinois when we were growing up there in the '30s. Ronny was a good kid, a mediocre actor, and a great president.

But he was no more "pure conservative" than Sarah Palin. Pure is pure is pure. There is no 110%.

Tool.

Don't sweat the small fry. We who have been here since '97 and before don't need to fret over assinine prattle from neo-concerned citizens. They're wet behind the ears, and still finding their legs.

Given time, they'll be as wise as you and me. 8^)

Stand easy, soldier. As you were.

Point out one place where I pass judgement on Sarah Palin in any of my posts here. You can't. I wasn't referring to her, AT ALL.

Your lie - AND IT IS A LIE BY IMPLYING HE SUPPORTED SOMETHING HE WAS PASSIONATE AGAINST- about Ronald Reagan passing an abortion law was all that I posted about. The "sketchy GOP candidate" I mentioned here is Carly Fiorina, not Sarah Palin.

Yossarian, I am not familiar with you other than through your posts on this thread, but I do know 2ndDivisionVet`s posting history. To be blunt, he`s posted more excellent, informative, conservative articles than ANY other FReeper I know of in my nearly 10 years of reading this site. Read his responses here with care and his position is perfectly reasonable. He is intellectually honest, and this tired and childish `You criticized Ronal Reagan whaaaaaa!` stuff should be beneath you.

Even the best politician is imperfect and has made wrong decisions. 2nd`s point was that no conservative pol is 9perfect, and if you`re looking for one, living or dead, who passes a litmus test perfectly, you will look in vain.

You might try showing some respect to a poster who is clearly conservative and intelligent; you might learn a lot from him, as I and countless FReepers have from his outstanding contributions to this site.

Are you actually claiming that then California Governor Reagan didn't sign the 1967 Therapeutic Abortion Act?

It is very simple: I want him to retract his lie about Ronald Reagan.

By using Reagan's signing of a bill involving abortion, as a way of saying that Reagan wasn't a "true conservative", is to totally go against the entire reasoning Ronald Reagan had in signing that law. It is a gross misrepresentation - otherwise known as a lie -as to Reagan's intent in this manner. Thus, since abortion is such a critical guideline to morality, it is a lie as to Ronald Reagan's character.

I see this very incorrect "line of reason" - put in quotes, as something filled with factual faults has no reason - sometimes being used to justify some other GOP politician's crass political maneuverings. We may have to do distasteful things to knock communists out of office, and we may only be able to make tiny baby steps to gain a foothold back - BUT WE CAN'T DO IT WITH SLANDER, ESPECIALLY NOT OF REAGAN.

Ronald Reagan was a human, and thus imperfect. BUT HE NEVER, EVER IN HIS POLITICAL LIFE SUPPORTED ABORTION.

HE SIGNED AN ABORTION BILL! Now, whether the Democrats or the doctors misused that bill to increase abortions beyond what was planned, you may have a point, but he was the governor and he signed it. Remember the plaque on President Truman's desk?
