Sarah Palin may have some splainin to do with the conservative fans on her book tour as word spreads of her partying Saturday night with the elites of the dread Mainstream Media. In her featured roast, the media types even got off easier than her former associates on the McCain campaign.
Sometimes youve got to trust your instincts, she told the group. And when you dont, you end up in a place like this.
The former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate stopped in Washington to be the Republican speaker at the annual black-tie winter dinner of the Gridiron Club, the 124-year-old assemblage of veteran Washington reporters. She gamely appeared opposite Democratic Congressman Barney Frank, one of the capitals funniest people.
Ms. Palin effusively described the big crowds at her appearances around the country to sign her best-selling memoir, Going Rogue. On her luxe bus, she added, the view is so much better from inside the bus than under it, a laugh-getting allusion to the attacks from embittered McCain campaign advisers. Ms. Palin said shed even thought that the Gridiron Club might drop its tradition of having a speaker from each party so the McCain campaign could offer a rebuttal.
Yet on my far left, as she aptly put it, was the liberal Democrat Mr. Frank.

She wondered at what might have been if she had been elected vice president. Then she would be the one helping to sign bailout checks and Democrat Joseph R. Biden Jr., the once nearly bald former senator, might be the one on the road hawking a bookGoing Rogaine, she suggested.(continued)

Sarah got that joke from . . . HERE, Free Republic. I had come up with the "Going Rogaine" line for part of a DUmmie FUnnies edition. DUFU reader Libloather went to the Palin book signing at Roanoke and passed it along to her, and she laughed and said she would use it. And she did!
Who believes this fishwrap of a ‘newspaper’ anymore?
Sarah is witty, smart, and funny. The more I learn about her, the more I like her.
MSM: Sarah Palin Found in Bed With One Year Old Boy!

I agree. Conservatives have cow every time one of us makes a darn joke; we prove what mirthless prudes the MSM makes of us. Lighten up. If something’s funny, it’s funny. It’s a JOKE. If Sarah Palin isn’t the real deal, then I’m giving up on politics for good.
Thin-skinned people are thin-skinned people, regardless of ideology. I don’t see the problem you describe as a conservative prude issue.
Democrat Joseph R. Biden Jr., the once nearly bald former senator, might be the one on the road hawking a bookGoing Rogaine,
Keep it up!! Sarah needs to fight with humor!! Excellent joke.
For them, it is about ratings, and the backlash has been dinging up their bottom line.
For Sarah Palin, the best road is one of forgiveness, to take them in, rather than let them shut her out. Trust them? No, never. But there is no gain in snubbing them and making them into lifelong enemies.
Her presentation was excellent. I love her book and she will make a great president.

All you can do is chuckle and shake your heads at these NY Times scumbags. I didn't read any further... did the writer mention that Sarah is "uncomfortable" around Asian-Pacific Islanders?
Im waiting for the day that the New York Slimes officially dies. That paper is such a waste of precious ink. Do people still read that crap, besides liberal loonies
Cool!
My point was why play into their stereotypes. Conservative Republicans are rightly or wrongly portrayed as humorless, uptight, uncool, unhip, puritans. Why add to this stereotype by complaining everytime one of our own jokes around? Can’t we poke fun at ourselves? Tell you what I thought wasn’t funny, but then I don’t think it was supposed to be: when Dole immediately began advertising for Viagra right after he lost the election! If that’s what Palin was poking fun at, THAT’s funny. Anyway, seems like some of us don’t get a clue sometimes.
And Barney's the straight man!
My point is why do we give a rat’s butt about the media’s stereotypes? It’s a form of political correctness meant to stifle debate.
Check your FreepMail. A certain Danny Kaye song is ringing in my ears.
Let me guess: Bawny played the straight man?
Beat me by that || much...
