[history]
Tavern owners yesterday appealed to city council to exempt them from an ordinance that would give Toledo the most far-reaching smoking prohibitions in the state.
In its second hearing on the proposed smoking ban, council heard from a succession of bar owners and bingo operators who said their patrons overwhelmingly smoke.

"There is no safe level of second-hand smoke," Mr. Ford said. He said 50,000 nonsmokers die from smoking related illnesses annually. He said restaurants in cities and states with bans have not lost business, while their maintenance and employee health costs of dropped.Lies, more lies, and damn lies!

Ban all joggers from sidewalks and roadsides.
Their stubborn refusal to recognise the obvious health risks to their lungs from breathing deeply around poisenous emissions has driven up the costs of health care to the non-jogging public.
If they must jog, force them to jog in healthy areas.
Meadows, indoor gyms and specially designated public field tracks, far from dangerous exhaust fumes.
Tax them extra for their risky behavior by adding a $3.00 tax on jogging clothing and shoes.

I quit smoking 17 years ago, but it still angers me when I see these nazis steal the rights of peace loving people right and left. I patronize bars where smoking is permitted, in fact, I prefer those, more conversation, more fun, more interesting patrons. These goons are going to kill many, many businesses! If you don't like smoking, stand upwind, fer Chrissake!!

They said there is no evidence of bars, bingo parlors, or restaurants closing in other states and cities that have banned smoking. More lies being propagated by the smoke-nazis.
Instead of talking to the ban proponents they need to talk to bar and restaurant owners in places with bans. I know of at least a dozen owners in Delaware that would gladly show them their books - to prove just how bad the ban is.
