TEENS FACE THE NAKED TRUTH -- Nudist Camps For Teens!
Iconoclast ^ | Paul Walfield

Posted on 06/27/2003 1:12:50 PM PDT by clintonbaiter

"It makes me a bit freaked out that people would think of nudity as a sexual thing," said Michelle Jones, a 15 year old nudist from Texas. Michelle is among a number of girls and boys, ages 11 through 18 who are happy little campers at one of America's nudist camps for kids. According to the New York Times article entitled, "Old Enough to Make a Lanyard, and to Do It Nude," teens running around nude, playing volleyball, pudding toss, mini-golf and attending a campfire sing-along, is like any other "family-like environment."

The Times, employing its usual tolerancespeak, points out that parents who enroll their pre-teen and teen-age kids in the nation's growing number of nudist camps geared for that age group aren't very concerned about it and in fact find it a wholesome and safe environment....

the great Greek culture. Where is it today

You'll find evidence regarding ancient Greek culture in libraries and museums.

The modern world has more gadgets and -- in some places -- more wealth; but the shining star excellence of Aristotle's thinking has only recently (in the past century) been surpassed.

That achievement belongs to a much maligned (but now deceased) modern philosopher that is slowly gaining respect thanks to the written (and extensive) philosophic legacy she has endowed to mankind.

These are private camps! Private clubs. Where are all the "freedom of association" people who were bleating about 1A rights during the Augusta Golf controversy?

kAcknor Sez:

I saw Congressman Foley on both Scarborough and O'Reilly and my first thought was to wonder if this guy was one of us fighting for "Parental Rights" when it comes to school choice.  Well, the parent's of these nudist kids also choose, but because he disagrees with THAT choice, it "Must be STOPPED!!"

Those who choose to go unclothed have been with us for centuries. Do we really think that they have never included their children in the activities? That they choose to send them to a summer camp that follows the same rules of the family camps seems a normal and reasonable thing.

I'm not a nudist myself, nor is anyone in my family. I wouldn't think to do it! But unless you can show me where children are harmed, them it's none of our business.

Yes, the great Greek culture. Where is it today, by the way?

Everywhere. You are its heir.

And in the words you speak, the mathematics you use, the philosophy you think, the plays, novels and TV shows you enjoy, the laws that protect you...

She's either really stupid or really ugly.

Totally irrelevant.

People wear clothes because people are, by nature, prone to lust.

See Genesis 3:7.

See Genesis 3:7

Those not prone to lust never take their clothes off.

"I don't like nudists. I think they're creepy. "

Plus, most of them you just don't want to see naked.

Any conflict here?

The decline and fall of the American empire!

Hardly, such camps have existed for decades, and probably centuries. Certainly I've been aware of their existance since the 1950s, and I'm sure they were around long before that.

I do have to make the observation that in certain instances, involving certain people, nudity could very well discourage lust. Examples: Hillary, Janet Reno, Madeline Albright, etc. And all you main street purists, I want you to dispute that observation.

 Any conflict here?

kAcknor Sez:

None at all. If you (or anyone) can show cause that the children are harmed, shut them down. Are adults leering? Are the children sexually abused? Forced to removed clothing by threat? Do any of the kids wish to leave because of embarrassment? If so, action should be taken, and taken quickly.

Until then, it's just another way to live that harms nobody, except the minds of those unwilling to allow them to choose.

Hah! You discovered that many conservatives are just as left wing in their desire for banning or outlawing. The conservatives and the left tend to fight about "what" to ban, not whether bannings is wrong.

Although I'm not personally comfortable as a nudist, the camps are perfectly okay. It is because they are naked, that the social-sexual aspects of nakedness are stripped away. Heck, in Europe there are many lakes and parks where you will find naked nudist families picnicing together, definitely not my cup of tea but perfectly innocent.

Yeah, but a nude cheerleader camp.... Wow.

Maybe if we did a google search using the words "nude cheerleader camp"... On second thought, strike that idea.

I am reminded of the story of George C. Scott when he was about to do a movie love scene in bed with a buxome starlet. Said George C.,"First of all, I want to apologize if I get an erection. And secondly, I want to apologize if I don't".
