Compared with their heterosexual peers, homosexual men were at greater risk for psychiatric disorders, including mood and anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, major depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, panic disorder, agoraphobia, social phobia, and simple phobia. ---

The root of homosexual, and hence homophobia, is not the latin homo (genus of man), but rather the greek homo (same).
The author is quite correct, however, that homophobia is a nonsense term coined by political activists in the 70s.

My first argument is to note that "homo" in Latin means human being.
Sheesh. You would think SOMEONE would have done a bit of fact checking on that claim. Come on! homo- is Greek, meaning 'like' or 'same'. If the prefix means "human being", what the HELL is in homogenized milk?! Just another case to bolster the position that Latin and Greek should be required for a HS diploma. What happened to the good ol' days? My kids will certainly be studying both...

The use of the term "homophobia" like arachnaphobia hydrophobia agoraphobia islamophobia
are hyped up terms...that put guilt on the non partaker... like the words prejudice bigot discrimination etc etc (while diversity and inclusiveness are brainwashed "good" buzzwords)
It assumes that the phobic has an mental adjustment issue and is somewhat pathologic...
So whateve I label you ...its because you have an mental problem...you are the sick one...
I could call you a pedophilephobic or a syphillisphobic etc etc etc or a chocolatephobe
Americans have been brainwashed into a unconcious acceptance of all deviants and perpetrators of criminal acts being victims ..rather than responsible for their own decisions and behaviors
So the term homophobic has more potency than the term heterophobic thanks to public education and the media brainwashing..

This argument is a complete waste of time.
Anybody who's read the rabid gay bashing hysteria by a few people on these boards knows that homophobia is very real.
The problem isn't whether homophobia exists or not, it's whether a person can a have genuine convictions when it comes sexual morality and still not be labeled a homophobic by the pro-gay advocates.
