I bought two ounces of Dutch tobacco, 200 filter-tipped cigarette tubes, and a German-made device that injects the tobacco into the tubes. It cost me $23.97 for everything, including tax. The fancy injector device was the most expensive item, at $15.95.

The loss in your job productivity because you're so tired.

I'm in a plant that has been laying people off based on productivity. I'm one of the few non-smokers left. Smoking increases alertness. Go figure.

Tobacco use has some good health effects - lowers the stress, is corelated with delay or smaller chance for Parkisnon and Altzheimer. Moderate smokers who do not inhale (pipe or cigar smokers) can live on average a little longer than non-smokers. If so they are the real culprits - they costs society more by dying later.

This is the most popular thing in Germany today. The tax for a pack is easily $3-4. I would guess that the politicians will eventually figure this out....but an awful lot of folks are figuring out that you can grow your own tobacco...same as grass...and dry the leaves...and make your pack for less than a quarter. I bet that the tax idiots will tax sales out the front door...and people switch over within 15-20 years to growing their own stuff. When they loss all of the tax revenues....they will wake up....and have to tax something else, like toilet paper or tampons....but hey, this is the American way...beat the system.

Hey - I tried one of those things in 1988 (I must have been one of the first) ... it didn't work for me. But, I got hypnotized ($39.00) on Oct. 03, 1989 and haven't touched a cigarette since. I guess whatever works ... works.

In 1988 I was retiring and considering buying a tobacco shop. I was going to try it there if I could find a small machine (Which I did). Problem was, it only made unfilterd cigs, about 200 a minute. Most people do not know that ready roll cigarettes were hand rolled, mostly by women until the invention of the cigarette rolling machine.

I even went to the trouble of reasearching the invention of the cigarette machine and how they were producing them now. figuring up cost and all that stuff.

The process of making and packaging a quality finished product soon became very complicated (for me anyway).

It seems like someone with a manufacturing/production background in this industry could make a lot of money.

Kickback?? I will always ask for money, asking don't cost anything. It's the gettin' thats the hard part.

I passed 40 a long time ago. I smoke 1 1/2 packs. I just got back from my daily 3 mile run. Just because you have one bad habit doesn't mean you do not exercise and eat right.

You would be very surprised at the number of marathon runners that are smokers.

Also been trying to find some inventor type to make an automatic machine that will inject multiple tubes at once. Now there's an idea that would make a mint for someone. Awhile back Cigarettes Cheaper out here in Kookiefornia was offering (don't know if they still are) $5000 for just a workable drawing from which they'd produce a prototype.

So have I, blue; just mentioned it here a couple years ago. I think nobody has done it because times just haven't gotten bad enough yet.

Same here. Even looked at the patent drawings for commercial machines to see if they could be modified for a home machine. Unfortunately, I'm just not very mechanical that way.

Reading the messages on some forums, I've noticed a lot of interest from different folks in China in used commercial machines. There's a Canadian machine that supposedly makes 100 cigarettes at a time, made for smoke shops, but the managers of the smoke shops I've talked to weren't really interested in encouraging RYO. I think they're pretty short-sighted, but what can ya do?

Well, looks like a law will have to be passed to which none may purchase any cigarette making supplies without the proper stamp affixed that notes that the tax has been paid.....oh, wait a second, that trick was tried before over 200 years ago. Ironic that Massachussetts would be the place where we could see this tried again. In the spirit of things, perhaps they should elect an Attorney General with the last name of Gage.
