You should have threatened to not vote for him, even if you intend to. What reason does he have to take your position into consideration if he knows he has your vote anyway? I'm sure you hate to lie, but since you're dealing with politicans..."when in Rome" comes to mind.

If I don't vote for him, some Democrud will get his seat. Which is the better of two evils?
