My first thought when I heard about the signature flap was that someone set Williams up because, although I don't follow him that closely, he has always struck me as an honest man.

I was thinking that someone who wants the job of mayor got to someone on his staff who then hired the crooked signature collectors. Some posters on a previous thread, however, have fleshed out the conspiracy. To wit: The corrupt bureacrats and the teachers' union want Williams out because he is trying to clean up the city, and they don't want him clogging the tracks in front of their gravy train.

Your assessment appears to be correct. The very same situation prevailed in Newark, NJ recently. A very good candidate was not elected in order to keep the corrupt Mayor in place. So the few extort and corrupt at the expense of the city.

I believe that Wall St. firms are exactly the same.....wishing to unseat our President so they can go back to the corrupt ways that prevailed during the previous administration. The campaign to discredit O'Neil is an example of the real agenda. They can't stand an honest ethical administration......

In closing... Mayor Williams is a good guy among a bunch of corrupt career bureaucrats who did better when the crooks were in office

I agree with your assessment. Wasn't Mayor Williams originally put in charge of the Control Board by News Gingrich and Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA) before the people elected him Mayor? There is some speculation that this is sabotage to get back at him for making tough decisions, namely by the teachers union.

I doubt the truth will be revealed. There is talk that he didn't even get the bare minimum required.

If he runs as an independent he may still win.....but there are powerful enemies aligned against him.

Williams also royally pissed off every Democrat in the city (95% of the population) by hosting a political fundraiser for Connie Morella, Queen of the RINOS, but a (R) nonetheless. It's actions like this that make him a target.

Four hits! What was I thinking? I was probably thinking about the dumb fashions from that time period that accompanied the music. I saved one of my outfits from back then because it's so not me; or anyone for that matter.

You know, pre-Britney Spears, a ruffled get up in different colors of acid washed denim - like Madonna would wear on a normal day. I've preserved my outfit for the Smithsonian if they ever call. LOL

According to the Post, he had over 10,000 signatures, but all but 2,600 (approx) were determined to be false. Of the remaining 2,600--almost HALFof those were on petition sheets verified by one of the Bishops. Because their names were present, those sheets were tossed out. Crystal Bishop admitted to just signing the sheets one after the other

So, in fact about 90% of the signatures were determined to be illegal.

It's sad when the demoncrats get caught cheating so blatantly. Makes one wonder what they have gotten away with in the past if they can be so sloppy now.

Oh yeah, 80's dance glam. Banarama, Human League, Dead or Alive, Duran Duran, Nu Shooz, Prince, Sheila E, Paula Abdul, Pet Shop Boys("WhatavI, whatavI, whatavIdun to deserve this?"), and I STILL like all of Madonna's music. Even George Michael with WHAM was cool back then(Choose Life), but total ixnay on Kajagoogoo and Culture Club. And nothing could be as bad as the always overdone hair and fashions in those cheeseball teen party movies.

I may have actually turned the collars up on my Polo shirts and cuff-rolled the short sleeves on prep buttondowns one summer. And bowheads were babes!

The 80's still beat the heck out of the 60's and 70's.

The best innovation in the eighties was MTV. I want my MTV. How true that was. Now, they have some music but it's mostly about sex. How'd that happen?

By the way, I checked out the tuna url for cats. I can still give my addicted cat tuna but she's only getting a little spoonful at night. Now I know why she was screaming at me at 6:00 every day. Tuna's addictive - even the smell.

They can get a fatal disease too because tuna causes a vitamin e deficiency. Thanks for sending me the url. We'll have to get through tuna rationing now. LOL

I was highly amused by the fact that "Tony Blair" was listed on the petition. Not that the Tonester probably minds all that much, but still...
