No messing around now; post the EXACT procedure and laws/rules that allow Bush to fire ANYBODY he wants to from the administration. Well, I don't know the exact procedure, Howlin...but I do know Slick didn't seem to have any problem unloading those 100 U.S. Attorneys. Refresh my memory, didn't he pull that on his first day on the job?
To: EternalVigilance
Nice dodge. How does he get around the CAREER employees? They have TENURE, you know.
Tell me how he fires people who cannot be fired.

That is done at the beginning of every single new administration; resignations are tendered and either accepted or rejected; it is NOT the same thing.

I just heard this being discussed on some show the other day (the firings, that is) and the host (sorry, forget who) said Clinton's action was "unprecedented." Is this not correct? Seriously, I'd like to know.

What a straw man! The same way Clinton did with all of those U.S. attorneys. FIRE THEM ALL!!! Anyone else that needs to get the axe, let it drop and then stonewall any lawsuits just like Clinton did.
To: Registered
BAC still feeding you and FIJC text? Yawn.
To: truthkeeper
Yes, it was. And those attorneys are NOT the same thing as HIRED, not appointed, career government employees. Those people serve at the pleasure of the president; it had never happened before that he accepted ALL the resignations.
No matter how somebody with an agenda might try to dress it up, it's not the same.
You cannot fire government employees just because they aren't of your political party. Just ask Ashcroft; he went to Congress to get rid of some of the Clinton people and was told in no uncertain terms NO......so he had to move them laterally.

I assure you, Howlin, Registered is just venting.

Thanks for passing along that information. I'd like to ruminate on that one for awhile, and possibly do a little research. Something stunk there, that's for sure.

Unbelievable that some people actually believe that there is no way to get rid of people! If not for a good laugh, it boggles the mind. I'll tell you something, if the axe started dropping you'd see all of these underlings get right in line behind whoever took their place. Life can be made miserable on these people.
To: Registered; Howlin
C'mon, Registered, drop the pose.
Tell Howlin who you're supporting for President in 2004.

You should ghost write for Ann. You were coherent.
I know the concerns. I wish Bush would stand up and say ... "Damn right we're profiling! We know that our greatest risk is from Arab or Asian Muslim men, ages 18-35, with temporary or guest visas from certain areas and active passport activity to certain places in the last 24 months. So, we're racial profiling. We're gender profiling. And were age profiling. And we're citizen status profiling. We're location profiling. Because that group, with that status, in those locations are most likely to kill a bunch of us again. OK? They already have. 3000 of us. If 85 year old Swedish women start terrorizing and killing our citizens, we'll start demographic profiling them instead. Arab-Americans who are stopped in high risk centers ... airports, bus terminals, power plants, railroad and other utility centers .... I'm sure they will understand the reasons and good intent of our vigilence. But we're going to be assertive and vigilent. We want to catch bad guys with the murder of our families in their plans. And, together, we will." End of story.
That would be nice, and it would be nice if he told James Zogby in advance to stick it up his hole.
But Coulter's allegations are false. I can tell you Reg, I fly too damn much ... there IS a random check in place. I asked someone who knows ... It's a buzzer that goes off and you are shuffled to the side. They can buzz anyone over they want, but they can't stop a random buzz. So Gore got searched. But there's no evidence that Muslim men are being waved through or given preferential clearance. That allegation is unsupportable and ridiculous. It's all pap.
This is like deconstructing the meaning behind a painting some chimp with four paint tubes just threw together. Regards!

BTW, whatever happened to all those Clinton appointed U.S. Attorneys...apparently they are still hard at work! That's the same d**n thing that's bothering me. Did THEY "resign?'
