Conservative lawmakers and activists disappointed with President Bush's first 18 months in office are calling into question his tactics and strategy in advancing the conservative agenda.
"The president for the most part has been our guy," said House Majority Leader Dick Armey, Texas Republican and a prominent conservative on Capitol Hill. "A few times we disagree."

The facts are that the country club republicans, like bush and like the others that now run the party, simply don't like conservatives and they didn't like reagan until after it was clear that the public supported him strongly. And facts are facts friend!
In my state, Arizona, the liberal republicans have been in charge for about 6 years now. They decided to subsidize the purchase of new cars. If you would merely purchase an inexpensive pollution control device, then they would have the taxpayers pay for 80-90% of the car for you. As you can imagine the car dealerships were no longer 'selling' cars. They were merely helping people fill out the paperwork because the deal really was just that good. One fellow told his employer in california about it, his employer purchased 165 pickup trucks and got them paid for by the arizona taxpayers. The whole thing cost the Arizona taxpayers perhaps 1 billion dollars by the time its' done. The republicans also saw fit to make special grants to their friends and say that certain industries didn't have to pay taxes. They had 255 different categories of businesses that didn't have to pay taxes. Because of this republican leadership today they have let prisoners go from their sentetnces early because the state prisons had their budget cut and had to let prison guards go. The public schools here in this state had their budget cut, not a slow-down in growth, an actual cut. The charter schools were private schools that the parents were able to select and the government paid most of the bill. But that is being sacrificed now too because of money problems. So, I am a conservative and I am voting democrat because in all of these in-state races the democrats are far superior to the republicans. The republicans did this huge damage to our state. They've not apologized. The governor who screwed up so bad had not stepped down. The republicans are too arrogant and need to be removed.
My republican congressman in washington is likewise a liar and a cheat. He campaigned on a platform of smaller government, typical republican lies they tell to get elected. He's been sitting for years on the House Ways & Means committee, any spending bill that comes through he blesses it like a cheerleader and the result is we have faster growth in guvment spending under the republican leadership in congress than we ever had under the dems.
So, a vote for the republicans is a vote for slavery. We must make the 2 parties compete to do what we want or else we will merely be slaves. Both parties are united today against us, only if we systematically vote against 70% of incumbents can we get them to do our bidding.
Spoken like a true Marxist. Nothing like a bit of class envy to add to a conservative forum.
Very wise words from the Gipper and thanks for posting it. Tell me, where is Bush getting 75-80% of what he wants from the democrats...with the rest later? Seems to me, he is giving the Democrats Carte Blanch right up front without even negotiating with them.
You're nuts!
I was around back then in the middle of the political battle. What you say happened, never took place. That's not to say that certain factions with the Republican Party, didn't pressure Reagan to pick Ford. But the fact is, Reagan didn't need Bush or Ford to beat Carter. Reagan won it all on his own.
Bush was not the first govenor in the country to sign a waiting period law for handguns
Bush has NOT raised taxes.
Bush has NOT signed a no questions asked, overnight amnesty
Bush has NOT publicly lobbied for the Brady Bill
Bush has NOT pulled troops out of harms way because of casualties
Bush has NOT ordered military sentries on foreign assignment to carry unloaded weapons to appease the UN
Bush HAS actually funded Star wars not just use it as a threat to the Soviets,
Bush has yet to capitulate to the UN on any issue. Shall I go on?
The unconstitutional CFR bill.
The Budget Busting Farm Bill.
The voucherless $40 billion Education bill sponsored by Ted Kennedy and the NEA.
The recently announced housing subsidies to targeted minorities.
His capitulation to the global warming environmental whackos.
His open support for the 245i Amnesty for illegals bill.
His refusal to enforce our nations immigration laws in this age of terrorism.
His mandated ban on racial profiling even if a suspect "acts suspicious".
Well thats my short list for the time being. There is more of course and each day Bush seems to be adding to it.
Ok Mr. Biden, I mean Tex.
Nope.
Right ... that's how I remember it ...
... hairy, rubbery chicken with four drumsticks.

Are you really as stupid as you sound?
So is the Patriot Act. See, it's okay to be a patriot, but it's not okay to be a patriot.
That is true. And, it shows how far this nation has fallen.
I suspect this is largely wishful thinking. I can tell you that my wife and I voted for Bush. And, I can also tell you that I am not a leftist or a moderate.
Just when I thought that it was safe to go back into the water.... You prefer to be poisoned slowly rather than fast.
No, it's based on exit-polling data, and ONLY counts losses among the "Christian conservative political movement" or "religious right."
The Constitution has nothing to do with it. It is the people who won't.
