A tax break for environmental groups is being added to part of President Bush's faith-based initiative, angering some conservatives.

The provision gives a 25 percent discount on capital-gains tax to private property owners who sell their land to environmental groups or the government, instead of to other private parties.

But by all means take don't let that stop you from trashing the President

LOL. Yes, I just trashed him by posting a quote in the article. I think maybe you are a little too sensitive regarding your boy.

He's just throwing us a few "nuggets", but, in the final analysis, this guy is a democrat dressed as a republican pretending to be a conservative while embracing the leftist liberal agenda. He's even not following the bush doctrine relative to countries that harbour terrorists.

What a crock, This was added to the original bill by Max Baucus ("A tax break for environmental groups is being added to part of President Bush's faith-based initiative") but somehow this reporter wants to say it was Bush who came up with it. Another example of how the left is trying to stir up the right

BUMP for TRUTH!
The left is DESPERATE and grabbing at anything they think might stick. Bush has removed most planks the Dems rely on to attack every conservative President and their only hope is to divide conservatives. Unfortunately many posters on this forum are willing to be led by the Dems without even realizing that they are playing their game.

Sorry, but you're wrong there, pal. Bush has included this proposal in both of the budgets he has submitted to Congress. You'll find it on page 44 of Analytical Perspectives from the FY2002 budget and on page 71 of the same document from the FY2003 budget. The budget document calls it, "a cost-effective, non-regulatory approach to conservation."

And I quote, "Private-property-rights groups are fighting the tax cut, which first appeared as a 50 percent break in Mr. Bush's budget." So much for democrats spinning...

He is our President or is he not yours? I may have disliked Clinton during his tenure, but at least I had enough respect for the office of President to refer to him as such.

Did you just say Bush has implemented most planks of the Democrat Platform?

Yawn.

This is no doubt a scam. What are these "environmental groups." What will they do with the land? Turn around and sell it? I see front groups galore.

It's getting to the place where you not only have to hold your nose and vote, you have to hold your bowels as well!

It's way past time to hold on to your wallet!

The only way to excuse some of these recent moves is to hope that this is all part of a grand strategery that will quickly bring about the collapse of the welfare state and a return to Constitutional government.

I'm not holding my breath. Who's the choice in '04, L. Neil Smith?

.I must stick to principal, forget pragmatism. I'd rather go down fighting than whimpering!

What and stop the unappeasables orgy of self-flagellation.

Did President Bush not campaign as a person who would work with both sides of the aisle to accomplish those things that needed to be done for the good of our nation? Sometimes you have to give a little to get what you want. I may not agree with every proposal he makes, but I never expected to agree with him 100% in the first place. Why is Bush held to conservative perfection and why do people expect for him to be in total agreement with their own personal philosophies? I don't recall any other President being held up to such scrutiny and expectations.

These groups are the same Nature's Conservancy and other leftist orgs that swooped down on Klamath falls to pick up property for dimes on the dollar after the water was cut off to the farmers. This is an old tactic of the federal government and the conservancy groups. The feds regulate the land owner into paper hell, then when the property is worthless the conservancy groups go in and pick up the real estate real cheap. This goes on all around the nation. Most people are completely unaware.

Has Bush rescined the Heritage Rivers Initiative? It was one of the worst pieces of legislation to ever hit this nation with regard to property rights.

It's an across the board problem with Bush. The guy simply is not centered in conservatism.
