What really galls me is the way he distanced himself from the issue by blaming it on some nameless bureaucracy. That is called quibbling where I come from, and it stinks. He had no problem naming Iran, Iraq, and N. Korea as the axis of evil. Why can't he be as specific about domestic issues.

I support President Bush because he is a Christian man, he's an objective man. It's the wrong time to say that Bush has flipped flopped. I don't see that he has on the big issues. Let's face it. We have this war on terrorism and he "hasn't sold out" as he's been accused of.
He doesn't have high approval ratings because he's a bad president. For the big picture, I think he's got that covered. Of course, real right wingers will never be satisfied. By the way, we can't forget that the armed services respect this Commander In Chief too.
I don't understand what the Farm Bill was about at all but, so what about global warming. Don't scientists always agree to disagree? Whenever Dubya agrees to disagree, he gets flamed. Makes no sense to me. Is he not allowed to change his mind - ever? Regards, FV

As for appointing conservative judges and privatizing social security, how many conservative judges have been confirmed, and what concrete steps have been taken toward privatizing social security? Talk is cheap. Doing the legwork to see both become reality requires commitment and stamina.
As far as missile defense is concerned, pulling out of the ABM treaty was a step in the right direction. Now let’s watch and see how many more steps in the right direction he takes, post ABM. The senate armed forces committee is determined to cut missile defense funding for 2003. Bush cannot capitulate on this. The PAC-3 antimissile system, and the sea-based and ground-based missile intercept programs desperately require additional funding and need to be continued (especially in light of Iran and North Korea spending billions every year developing long-range weapons). This is not the time to cut funding for such programs (as if there ever were such a time). Bush has never been in a better position to press for a well-funded missile defense program (and his new pact with Russia should silence those poised to label him a hawk). If the President doesn’t make the most of his current popularity in order to sufficiently fund missile defense (senate foot-draggers notwithstanding), he has betrayed his conservative base in the worst way possible….where national security is at risk.
Bush is so desperate to regain control of the senate that he is willing to sign many bad bills, in order to deny the democrats issues.
A certain amount of compromise is necessary in order to be an effective leader, but not when compromise includes signing bad legislation so as to deny public opinion ammunition to one’s ideological enemies. That is called surrendering (no matter how temporarily, or seemingly insignificantly) to the political and media information manipulators/propagandists. It amounts to allowing himself (and the people who elected him) to fall victim to ideological extortion. Not the kind of strength of character one seeks in the leader of the free world. (When he was in kindergarten, do you suppose he maintained a steady diet of insects because the playground bullies warned him, ‘Eat that bug or I’ll tell everyone your mother wears army boots.’?) I, for one, am not into insect eating….especially when those seeking to feed them to me are leftists.
Bush is trying so hard to set a high standard of Presidential behavior (to repair the damage that Clinton has done) that he is failing to engage in the politics necessary to advance the conservative agenda.
I’m scratchin’ my head here. Are you offering this explanation in the President’s defense? Do you think a President should devote one iota of his time or energy making mental comparisons (and hoping that others will, as well) between himself and his predecessor (no matter the vermin-like nature of the man who occupied the oval office before him)? A man of character will be recognized as such without having to focus on exhibiting it for public consumption. Among a myriad of other things, Ronald Reagan taught us that.
Using your logic, the best way for any President to avoid criticism is to make sure the country is always at war. Without opposition/criticism, they can have dictatorial power. You might like that with Bush in the White House, but you won't like with Hillary or her ilk in power. You may want to reconsider your position about when citizens are allowed to criticize their President.
So who knows what the heck is going on. I always thought Clinton tried to ride his horse in two different directions but President Bush clearly has shown he is quite adept at this maneuver and seems the American people like his fancy horsemanship.
I am one of them. I do support our President, I genuinely like, trust and respect him. I find his very broad and encompassing political posture extremely interesting as he seems to get a lot of people on both sides really stymied, including me. Perhaps, that is good strategery.
I cannot recall exactly how Rush responded to the e-mail, but I know for a fact that Rush doesn't equate Dubyuh with Algore. Still, this Triangulation Strategy does make one wonder how much more spending Algore would have gotten away with than Dubyuh has. Federal spending is projected to increase 15% over Dubyuh's two years in office...that, IMHO, is indefensible!! If Algore had won and proposed the same increase, the GOP would rightfully be up in arms over the irresponsible expenditures...shouldn't conservatives demand some accountability from our own as well?!

I agree wholeheartedly; however, how will we stop the bleeding in the Fall of '04 if all we have to defend is record Federal expansion? We're supposed to be the Party of limited Federal Guv'ment, but Dubyuh's seemingly ready to sign off on every spending boondoggle that comes down the pike!! Sure, I like Dubyuh and still somehow believe he's innately conservative, but his willingness to buy into the Left's agenda doesn't warrant the 90% approval rating he's getting from the GOP these days. It's high time a few more of our voices on the Right were heard in opposition to this approach before it's too late to change course. The Right will never win a spending contest with the Left and to consider even trying is pure folly on our part, IMHO.

Fair 'nuff, my FRiend, and I certainly wouldn't believe the NY Slimes as far as I could throw their fat-assed editorial board. Still, the concerns Rush and other conservatives are raising about Dubyuh's willingness to abandon conservative principles in favor of ethereal mid-term polling popularity need proper airing and consideration. The Fall's campaign should be based on telling the American people how the GOP's winning back the Senate and increasing our lead in the House will reign in the Federal Leviathan and return us to a form of Federal government more in keeping of that which our Founding Father's envisioned when they penned the Constitution. Otherwise, I fear Dubyuh and the GOP will learn all too late that the enthusiasm of the Right's base will have been dampened irreparably come November '02 and '04.

I think the next thing that ought to be challenged for the sake of true common law practice in the Supreme Courts is the flag with the yellow fringe. Because of this flag, the constitution is exercised at the courts discretion as people are now finding out. This flag is a commander in chief flag and actually symbolizes an army on the march. Next time you visit any federal court house, look outside and observe the plate designs as one reads "War Office" which is above the entrance door. BTW, the military flag has been seen in Catholic churches and in the local courts as well. We are enemies of the court. That is a true fact that all federal judges know and they also know the true meaning of the flag with the fringe as they are taught such symbols in judge school in Reno Nevada.

The pity is I absolutely believe Dubyuh is capable of the kind of leadership we seek. Somehow, though, I sense he's being misled by advisors who would willingly sell conservative principles down the river in exchange for a couple points bump in the polls. Long-term, I think Dubyuh and the GOP could do major damage to their credibility with the Party's base.

IMHO, Dubyuh is "preaching conservative governance" because deep down he believes in conservative governance. However, perhaps an effort to retain universal support for our War on Terrorism, he seems willing to take the Right's base for granted will attempting to "broaden his support" supporting pork-spending legislation that he never would have supported were we not locked in the battle with Islamic Radicals. Just like when Reagan abandoned domestic fiscal conservatism to obtain the military support to win the Cold War, Dubyuh's deal-making will be used against him by the same RATS he aims to appease.
The "whining" of Fiscal Conservatives needs to be appreciated by the Bush Administration as the CONSTRUCTIVE Criticism it is...we're not trying to undermine Dubyuh's success, we're trying to save him and the GOP from the Milquetoast Moderate wing of the Party that wouldn't know Conservative Principles if they bit them on the behind!!

Sounds like Dubyuh's distancing himself from this report that was released by "the Bureaucracy." Good for him, and good for Rush for highlighting the inanity of ceding the argument about the very existence of Global Warming to the Leftist Enviro-Nazis. I'm not sure how that would entail my apologizing to you, though, OldFriend.

How and when have I believed the Compost or Slimes?! I reject almost everything they print due to their Leftist spin. As for our "hysterics," do you not believe the GOP needs to air these concerns with what Dubyuh's "bureaucracy" puts out?! I have read a whole lot of scientific proof that indicates that Global Warming is not, in fact, occuring...and if any is, human activity is far from the primary cause. It appears that Dubyuh thinks along the same lines, but many below him would have us believe differently.

I guess we simply disagree that Rush is discrediting himself in pointing out the Bush Administration's Triangulation Strategy. I believe a limited Federal Government is Right on its own merits and we ought to be making the sale of this philosophy to the Sheeple, not acquiescing to the Left's Agenda in an ill-fated attempt to win over voters who mistakenly believe otherwise.
