Just the headline
Yep, he let's the New York Times do it for him. Just looking at some of the reactions, the people at the New York Times are laughing their arses off as they prove the "reactionary" stereotype.
It's possible, just maybe, that Rush could be wrong from time to time.
Nonsense. If we're talking politics over substance, then this is going to produce a big win for Bush. If more people believe that Bush and Republicans are reasonable about the environment, then more people will vote for them. If more people vote for them, then we'll have more conservative justices on the Supreme Court. That's a victory for conservatism.
Perhaps because it's deserved. Had Gore done as many left turns, "conservatives" would be outraged. With Bush in charge, there seems to be a large crowd operating on "der fuehrerprinzip" - anything the "leader" does must be right. One thing's for sure - Bush will get neither my money or my vote this time unless dramatic, sweeping and unlikely changes take place. Like a little justice from the Injustice Department. Or like some actual reduction in government, instead of profligate, unwarranted and continuous expansion.
for the record I'm angry at Bush too. Like Rush I think Bush is blowing an opportunity to advance the conservative agenda.
Off the top of my head, (so I'm sure that I am missing some things) I would like to point out that Bush:
1. re-instated the Mexico City Policy (pro-life)
2. killed that stupid enviromental treaty.
3. withdrew from the anti-missle defense treaty
4. started working on missle defense
5. Is begining a process of military reform.
6. Is begining to withdrawl women from combat.
7. Did cut taxes
8. Did nominate a lot of conservative judges.
9. Did express support for Taiwan - really PO'd the Chicoms.
10. Did/has a more pro-Israel policy than clinton did.
Keep in mind that a lot of Conservative victories will be done behind the scenes. For example there is a committee in the Defense Dept for women in the military. Under Clinton it engaged and promoted radical social engineering. Not anymore, the clinton people are gone, and the committee's mission has been changed so that it cannot comment on women in the military let alone combat.
(Of course, the problem with them not standing up to the environmentalist whackos is that they've given these crackpot theories a seal-of-approval from a Republican administration. In the long run, this "admission" from the Evil Republicans that humans are "destroying the earth" will make it nearly impossible to resist implementing the Left's regulatory agenda. Bush is arguing that there is nothing that can be done about the "problem" through regulation; that adaptation to a changing climate is all that we can do. But the Left will counter with the usual "But we've got to do something!" or "But what about the children?" or whichever of their usual canards they think will work. They will eventually get what they wanted under Kyoto and our economy will suffer; all because of W's long standing refusal to fight this myth.)
1) Defend the Second Amendment
2) Don't be Shanghaied by the fradulent Global Warming Nonsense
3) No new or higher taxes
4) Protect the U.S. with a strong military
5) Defend our borders against illegal invaders
6) Ignore EVERYTHING that idiot father of his tells him.
If George W. Bush neglects any of the above, he will not succeed in a re-election bid as he will have blown away his base of support. The liberal left will never accept or support him, and the last election was a very close one.
It would appear George Jr. is slowly allowing the miasmas of the Potomac to alter his previous conservative creditials, jepordizing a second election bid.
Personally, I will NEVER vote for a liberal Republican, even if the alterantive is a liberal Democrat. I have had it with electing so-called conservative Republicans to office, only to have them turn into empty-headed liberals in an attempt to "widen their base", somethijng a liberal Democrat NEVER does when one of THEM gets into office.
He is a tool of the one-world, global government socialists looking to rape the US!!!
Whew! I feel much better!!!
So why is this a flip flop?
Rush is pushing the 'what is the difference between Gore and Clinton?' What about tax cuts, ABM treaty, pulling out of Kyoto, reducing gov. intrusion of ergonomic issues, increasing the military budget, pushing for further welfare reform, limited stem cell research, etc.....
If some people want to call this selling out or cowardice, I have no control over it. The fact of the matter is that I am not out to make noise. I'm out to WIN, and I DEFINE winning as getting significant changes PASSED INTO LAW.
The irony is that RUSH has ripped McCain for doing what RUSH himself is doing now and counseling other conservatives to do---that is, not understanding or taking the long view.
I beg to differ, my FRiend. I listen to Rush as often as I can, and I know for a fact that he LOVES Dubyuh and sees him as another potential Reagan...but the Dubyuh we've seen lately on his domestic agenda is not the Dubyuh I voted for. I also like George W. Bush and still believe he's got the potential to be a humongously-successful CONSERVATIVE POTUS. However, if he continues to "hijack the Left's Agenda," he's destined to follow the same political road as his Milquetoast Moderate Daddy!! Straddling the ideological fence don't work with the Right like it does with the feckless and shameless Left!!
FReegards...MUD
Now you know how some of us feel about Bush and his liberal leaning policies. I am loving this, lol. The bots are angry at a recovering bot. roflol
