And Governor Davis spent the fall of 2000 campaigning for Al Gore and raising money for Democrats and himself. He IS California's biggest problem at the moment. The liberal laden State Senate and Assembly are next.

I presume that if it gets hot this summer, there will probably be more problems in the run-up to the election. I haven't heard that they've done much to fix the infrastructure.

The trouble with bureaucrats consulting with bureaucrats for solutions to problems. A 'kumbayah circle-jerk' and a California deficit of $22 billion. Where was that long-term contract, Gambling Gray?

I remember one California summer when it hit 105 degrees in LA and all I had in my tiny apartment was a fan. Yes you can get by with only a fan. However I was happy to return to my home state of PA with its more moderate weather patterns.

Not much advance on the infrastructure, you are correct. But, the governor has lined us up to 'pay the piper' to keep the lights on this election year.
"Powered by Davis, paid for by taxpayers."
Beast and 'burden'

When the fan isn't enough, a cold shower helps. A wet bedsheet does wonders to cool down too. Innovate when you have no alternative.

Good friends? I was closer than this to Bill Clinton on most issues.

You may want to give a thread of its own--
Special Report: Energy crisis built steam as officials mishandled it
"Utilities' finances cratered. Ratepayers' power bills doubled. And Gov. Gray Davis went to a fund-raiser.
By the time Davis' 15 guests had concluded their cozy dinner at the Sutter Club May 31, 2000, they had dined on salmon and warned the governor one-by-one that a crisis was on the horizon.
Within weeks, the governor had collected $85,000 in campaign contributions from his dinner guests: energy company executives with whom he soon would be at war.
From that day forward, as the crisis escalated into a financial catastrophe for California, Davis would find himself under fire for his actions -- or what foes considered complete inaction.

"Because California banked on buying power daily instead of relying on the long-term contracts used elsewhere, it ended up paying the most."
This article needs circulation.

A July 23, 1999, report from the California Energy Commission's staff warned that the state's energy markets were a ticking time bomb.
"This really wasn't a working market," said Edison's Stern. "We always believed there was the potential for the markets to go haywire."
And, the governor 'fiddled'.

He IS California's biggest problem at the moment. The liberal laden State Senate and Assembly are next. Absolutely! He IS the weakest link! I have already written my check to the Simon campaign. we desperately need and executive who can manage more than financing his campaign. Davis is an unmitigated sleaze and sc*mb*g. definitely a clinton protoge. We have a duty to stamp this new species out.

When the fan isn't enough, a cold shower helps. A wet bedsheet does wonders to cool down too. Innovate when you have no alternative. What was the Carter recommendation in the seventies when his idiotic leftists policies brought about the home heating oil "shortage": Just wear a sweater, and get used to having less.
Davis = Carter
Both = major losers

"Because California banked on buying power daily instead of relying on the long-term contracts used elsewhere, it ended up paying the most." Sure. As a business manager, whenever I want to obtain the lowest cost, I always structure my contracts so as to purchase the smallest quantity popssible at the shortest notice. Could Davis (et.al) REALLY BE THIS F*ING STUPID!!!
My guess is that they simply went for the best deal FOR THEMSELVES (sound familiar?), and really never thought that things would get so out of hand that their duplicity would become noticed. They are swimming in it now! It remains to be seen how many functioning neurons remain in Califiornia. We'll find out in November.
Have you contributed to Simon yet?

I was still living in Kali in early 2001 when rolling blackouts were dumping power in my neighborhood for 2 1/2 hours at a stretch. The apartment where I was "camping" (a sleeping bad on an air mattress) was well over 100 degrees inside and no electricty to run a fan. I'm not advocating the wet bedsheet as standard daily practice.
My "fix" during those blackouts was to stay late at the office and go to dinner at an all night diner in an unaffected area. By 1 AM, the power was back on and the outside temperature was in the high 60s. 20 minutes with the box fan on "high" was enough to blow all the hot, stagnant air from the tiny apartment.

I was in the first Rotating Block last year to get it, and lo and behold as we head into the new summer, I am back in the same situation as we cycled thru all the blocks, and I suspect we will blackout again, hopefully, not in june like last year, but who knows... What with all the weird weather , El Nino, contrails, HAARP, etc, All I can say is if we do go under the waTT line again, It couldn't happen with a nicer fella at the helm of the state to answer for it. SmiLe, GraYouT :-)
