I think America needs to open its borders to Mexico so that there is not even a border patrol. America is the land of opportunity and freedom. That should be the case for EVERYONE. Not just those that are citizens. There should be nothing seperating people from the opportunity that America offers. It is wrong not to share the wealth America has.

Imagine if you will that Russia was right next door to America. Are you telling me that we would have have Russians flooding our borders? They sure would be.

I'm not sure they would be ---you don't really see Canadians flooding over the borders. When I lived in Michigan I never heard of a single one drowning in Lake Superior trying to make it to the US. For the most part, they like their own country and work to make it liveable.

My point is that your standards can never and will never be applied. If we are talking ideals, then we can talk for hours about a multitude of things we would like changed. But reality does not allow for what you are suggesting, most of which I agree with. Then your problematic contradiction still exists now, doesn't it? If you agree with most of my requirments, you cannot at the same time demand that we open the borders (which they already are of course, so you are really screaming for us not to close the borders).
Either you are arguing for a free-for-all flood of immigrants without restriction, or you are not. I am saying no. You can't have it both ways.

News flash. Canada is a wasteland if not for the fact that it is populated with white Europeans helped and protected by America.

But why not allow Mexicans the opportunity to contribute to that wealth.
--------------------
Sounds like a good idea. I think they should stay in Mexico to do it and build a supernation. But it won't happen because of nature and culture. Importing that deficiency into the United States isn't smart.
Frankly, I'm as concerned about Mexicans as they are about me. I see no advantage to me in opening uour borders. To the extent it has been done illegally, it has been detrimental. There is nothing in Mexico I find appealing. Bringing it here doesn't improve it.

I have never once suggested a free for all flood. But give them the opportunity to come here and make a life for themselves.

Is that what you would have told your ancestors? Don't come to America, declare war in Italy or Ireland or England or Canada or Russia or China or India or every other country on Earth.Actually my ancestors legally came to what is now the United States and also declared war on England. They fought to defeat the old system of government and install a new system of government. Now the descendents of those brave original American citizens are enjoying the fruits of the society that their hard fought victory helped create. Americans need not apologize to anybody for having created the greatest civilization and the greatest economy in the history of the world.
No, your ancestors wanted the same thing that these Mexicans want, except our ancestors didn't have people like you stopping them.
My ancestors came to the United States legally. As long as an immigrant comes here legally, I have no problem with that at all. If someone is in the United States illegally, then they need to be rounded up and deported expeditiously. If a Mexican national wants to come live in the United States, they need to fill out the necessary paperwork and wait for their turn just like everybody else around the world who wants to come here. Unfortunately, Mexicans have developed a very bad reputation for being a lawless people, a reputation that they have deservedly earned.

A certain level of immigration is fine and is good ---but when all the people decide to abandon their own country --and there's no end in sight to them leaving, then things just break down even further in that country and you get a vicious cycle like we're seeing. And we get ones who are only coming because it's more convenient than fixing up things back home but who have little interest in the culture or language or Constitution here. We need borders and we need to let in only those people who have prepared themselves and aren't expecting everything be handed to them.
